Description

The Xiaomi 1S has a 42V rechargeable lithium-ion battery that takes about 5.5 hours to fully charge from empty. The scooter’s charging port is concealed under a red rubber flap beneath the front wheel. Simply connect the power adapter provided into this port and turns green once it’s fully charged. Under ideal conditions, the Xiaomi 1S has a range of 30 kilometres , according to the manufacturer. Whether you actually achieve these kilometres depends (mainly, but not only) on: As mentioned, there is also a difference in the top speed of the scooters. The Essential has a top speed of 20 km/h (12 mph), whereas the 1S and Pro 2 have a top speed of 25 km/h (16 mph). As with the M365 Pro, the Pro 2 also has red trim on the front wheel. However, it is differentiated from the M365 Pro by the yellow reflectors, which are also found on the Essential and 1S (there has been confusion over whether the 1S will sport yellow because the original Chinese version of the Xiaomi 1S kept the red). The new Xiaomi range was recently launched in China following the widespread success of the Xiaomi M365 and M365 Pro. Demand for the new scooters is expected to be high and, as there have been a large number of fake M365s on the market, there is expected to be a similar number of fake Essential, 1S and Pro 2 electric scooters out there (adding to the fake M365s still in circulation).

Electric Rider has an extensive range of electric transport options from affordable city to premium road e-bikes, e-scooters and more. Find out what’s on offer with my Electric Rider discounts and promotions. The frame does not have suspension, but the pneumatic tyres provide light cushioning for uneven road surfaces. The 1S battery has the same capacity and power as the M365 battery, and the scooter retains the same top-speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and range of 30 km (18 miles). The range is pretty accurate (at least to begin with) but the speed tends to hover around 14 mph. Xiaomi also claim the battery on the 1S has been improved so that it takes less time to charge (5 hours) and has a longer overall lifespan (partly by limiting its charge so that it reads 100% charged when it is, in fact, only at 93% of its real capacity. Before diving into the review, we must stress that it’s illegal to ride a personal e-scooter on both roads and pavements in the UK. You’re only permitted to ride them on private land with the landowner’s permission. The government has recently legalised the use of rental e-scooters in some UK cities, with a view to reducing traffic congestion on shorter journeys. While there is an ongoing bid to legalise private e-scooters, they remain illegal for now. That being said, both e-scooters have their strengths and weaknesses. The Pure Air can be ridden on wet roads and in rain, and it can accommodate a maximum rider weight of 120kg. By comparison, the Xiaomi 1S is only IP54-rated, which means that riding in rain or puddles will void your two-year warranty and it can only accommodate 100kg, so it’s not suitable for heavier riders. The Xiaomi Mi1S features three-speed driving modes – Pedestrian, Drive (standard) and Sports – and boasts a sophisticated cruise control system. Guarantee a riding distance up to 30km Forty 18650 li-ion cells offer altogether a high capacity of 275Wh. Smart battery management system (BMS).

Like previous Xiaomi’s, ease of use and transporting your scooter is paramount to the overall experience. Intuitive controls and a multi-functional LED display, the design and build, straightforward portability and the Xiaomi app makes the Mi 1S a joy to operate. Controls Some people believe that the box their scooter arrives in will tell them if their Xiaomi scooter is real or not, and this is true to a certain extent. Fake scooter boxes can look quite realistic, but they tend to be brown (when the Xiaomi 1S and Xiaomi Pro 2 scooter boxes are white). They also rarely cover all the bases. For instance, an authentic Xiaomi (or Segway) box has a lot of detail, including the hazmat warning sign (for the battery). Below is the box for the 1S. The Pro 2 box looks very similar, but the Essential comes in a brown box.Rider safety is a crucial component built into the design of the Xiaomi 1S. The wheels and tyres, dual-braking system, lights and reflectors, driving control and display combine for a safer riding experience. Wheels and tyres This is a great scooter for those thinking of replacing public transport or even a bicycle with something smaller, more convenient and easier to stash in a flat or office. It offers a great mix of performance, durability and comfort at a price that won’t break the bank. A comfortable grip made from rubber and plastic ensures your hands are safe on the handlebars on both sides. Multi-functional dashboard Battery range is pegged at 18.5-miles, based on a 75kg rider scooting around in fairly ambient 25-degrees celsius temperature, but we all know that’s not going to be the case in the UK.

The ultra-bright 2W front headlight on the Xiaomi 1S enhances your view and makes you more visible at night. The angle of the light has also been improved to avoid headlight dazzle. Before purchasing, please carefully read the Mi Electric Scooter 1S user manual and legal notice. Be sure to abide by local laws and regulations when using Mi Electric Scooter 1S. A high safety lithium battery with a significant power supply offers safe and durable performance. And longer battery life is enabled by a new energy recovery system that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy. The Xiaomi 1S E-Scooter comes with a 250W motor powered by a 7650mAh/275Wh Li-ion battery, which powers through almost all general road surfaces that you’d expect an electric scooter to zoom through.

The new Xiaomi 1S retains many of the same features as its predecessor - the M365 - and it's now at its cheapest price ever!

The handlebar and dashboard are straightforward and leave little to the imagination. The (non-adjustable) handlebars are 43 centimetres wide and 114 centimetres high . With the left thumb you can operate the bell and with the right thumb you accelerate.

In Sport mode, we reached maximum speed after 6 seconds during our test. Keep in mind that using the scooter in Sport mode drains the battery substantially faster than driving in Drive mode. The braking system All above data was obtained from Ninebot labs. Actual results may vary based on differences in use conditions. Update: The Xiaomi M365 is arguably the world best-selling electric scooter. However, this year Xiaomi gave the M365 a much-needed upgrade, resulting in the brilliant Xiaomi 1S electric scooter. As we noted in our Xiaomi 1S review, the Xiaomi 1S retains many of the best features of the Xiaomi M365 – including its manageable weight, motor wattage and maximum rider – while adding a few much-needed upgraded to bring it up to speed with today’s competition. Compared to existing models, the 1S is an improvement with enhanced features over the M365. Performance and powerThe main difference between the Xiaomi Essential, Xiaomi 1S and Xiaomi Pro 2 is the battery. Basically, the battery gets larger from the Essential to the Pro 2, meaning it can cover a greater distance on a single charge (20 km, 30 km and 45 km respectively). It also means the Essential is the lighest and the Pro 2 the heaviest. The other consideration of a larger battery is the time needed to charge it. The Essential takes the least time to charge, whereas the Pro 2 takes about eight hours. The Essential's handlebars also differ, inasumuch as they are foam instead of thermoplastic rubber. Before we dive into the review, we must make it clear that that e-scooters are still classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs) and therefore illegal to use on both roads and pavements in the UK, but this law may undergo a change soon. This is in stark contrast to other US and European cities where local laws permit their use.
