The Mark XXXI has an Enhanced Energy Output that allows it to transfer energy to the various repulsors in its system, including the Unibeam. And was the first suit to resemble what would later become the Hulkbuster armor however this suit had a minimal focus on combat and was instead designed to handle the heavy lifting with the mark 39 Toni turns his sights to the stars this was to designed. The largest difference between the Mark VI and the older armors is the new, more powerful Core Arc Reactor, which provides as much power, if not more, in a slightly smaller reactor, allowing room for more improvements. The suit withstands prolonged and extreme combat situations with relatively minor damage, having only a few noticeable cuts from Ivan Vanko's improved Arc Whips, despite the Mark V armor being nearly unrecognizable from a much lower-tech version of the weapons, although this can be attributable to the Mark V's somewhat lower technology and armor. It was also shown to be able to punch through the Hammer Drones with ease. It is shown to use the same J.A.R.V.I.S operating system as the Mark IV, which is different from the Mark II and III. The armor was able to absorb a great amount of fellow Avenger Thor's lightning and proved powerful enough to go toe to toe with him. The armor is incredibly durable, sustaining little damage in conflict with Thor, and then heavy damage from a Helicarrier propeller. Also, at the beginning of The Avengers, it had the ability to function underwater. This is one of four suits that the movies confirm can work underwater, the others being the Mark XXXVII, Mark XLII, and Mark XLVII.

Flares: The armor also contained numerous infrared flares, another feature common with its predecessors. The flares can be used as a weapon or as a distraction. After its creation, the armor's pieces were stored in Veronica's pod and placed inside one of Stark's Satellites for future use. From then on Veronica and the armor were never used, until the events of Age of Ultron in the near future. Heads Up Display (HUD): Like most of Stark's armors, Mark LXXXV possesses a heads up display. it is capable of analyzing the environment around Stark and seeing through walls.Unibeam: Like all the previous Armors, Mark LXXXV is capable of firing an energy blast directly from its central arc reactor.

With the others destroyed by either him or A.I.M., Mark XLIII was the first suit he used during his return to the role of Iron Man. Utilizing the same technology that had been used in his other suits, Stark would use it until the suit was damaged in a battle with Ultron and a mind-controlled Hulk. Infra-Red Scan: The Mark XLIII Armor enabled Tony to see through the walls of the HYDRA Research Base in Sokovia so as to locate the shield generator that was guarding the base. This allowed him to use his anti-armor missile to destroy the mechanism from the outside. Its appearance and design is reversed from the original design of the former armors. Whereas the areas with Red plating from its former armors are now covered with the gold ones and the same style goes with the Red plates of the armor. With Piston's completion, Stark proceeded to create the next armor, the Mark XXXII, also known as "Romeo".
