About this deal

Some of the more popular Triangle users include Carlos Santana, John Lennon, and Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine. The Triangle Big Muff Sample – Bass The Triangle Big Muff Sample – Treble The above article is very useful for us all trying to achieve somehow THE TONE FROM HEAVEN, but in my case i have in my possession a NYC made BIG MUFF (contemporary model) which i agree with what you say above it is quite buzzy, boomy, and somewhat choked sustain(long but choked).I also recently wanted to give a try on the “green” bass big muff which also after i tested it agree with what you say, but partially. Because it is quite better in terms of distortion/sustain compared to the NYC model muff for guitar, but it has an obvious volume drop compared to the NYC muff and less gain/sustain, at least in my opinion and my ears.I tested both muffs on a fender hot rod deluxe MK I amp, with MIJ Fender strat in combination with MXR DYNACOMP, and also the pedals alone each one.Do you think there is any solution with that negative of bass big muff so as to turn its disadvantages to my advantage and create the perfect muff(for me and my rig)or should I look again for something else, and what are your recommendations. Reissue of the 1969 Muff Fuzz and the 1971 Little Muff Pi, with nano-sized chassis and powered by 9V.

Thought I’d share my experience in using the muff in a bedroom setting. Many have noted the tone problems at low volumes (inarticulate and dark).

THE SOUND - The tone is the same as the last V7C Bubble Font Green Russian Big Muffs. Just different box color and graphics. The tone varies slightly from unit to unit for each edition, but the differences are usually minor. The following year, the sixth version of the Muff was launched. It was a transistor version with tone bypass. And in the same year, a transistor version of the Little Big Muff was also released. 1979 was also the year in which an op-amp version of the Muff Fuzz saw the light. 80s After 1979 Version 6, Big Muff returned to production in New York again. The circuit designed by Bob Myer, it has some variants with slightly modified circuit, and the first edition circuit board was marked EC3003 and used four 2N5088 transistors, powered by 9V.

Technically the Big Muff is not a fuzz but closer to a distortion. Sonically though, its tone is perhaps closer to a silicon transistor fuzz than a DS1. As a rule of thumb, and for authentic David Gilmour tones, I would say fuzz for 1968-75 and Muff from 1977 to present. When EHX started building Muffs in the late 60s, the circuit was not standardized and any two Triangle Muffs could sound different. EHX referenced two vintage models to create this reissue, and successfully captured the bite and gated unpredictability of these early units. Electro Harmonix finally decided to celebrate their own legacy and put out reissues of their own classic Big Muff circuits. It seemed strange that so many clones had been flooding the marked for decades, while Electro Harmonix seemed determined to focus on spin-offs.The history of the Big Muff is interesting, and, historically, the pedal’s sound changed both from model to model and year to year, especially as suppliers changed and technology evolved. In other words, two Triangles from different years could sound noticeably different. I have been buying pedals for a while and would like your input as to what should go on my pedalboard given the amps that I have. I have read your section on “know your amp” and I am aiming for the Gilmour/Waters sound era sound. I have the following: EHX released two versions this year where you can turn off the EQ part (tone bypass). In both cases these were op-amp versions. An op-amp version of the Little Big Muff Pi (V4/5 circuit) was also released and the first Deluxe Big Muff Pi (EH1330) was also released. 1979 – Big Muff Pi (V6) We are certainly living in the golden age of Big Muffs. The circuit is more popular than ever and the amount of Muff options on the market is overwhelming. Here is a guide to help you choose. Most Popular and Iconic EHX Big Muffs Available Now

Am I just not used to it or what settings should I try? I really don’t want to start selling and buying different ones as I like to get the best out of what I’ve got The Muff was further developed in the 1970s and had no fewer than 6 different versions, including the well-known Ram’s Head. The pedal became popular and many guitarists started using it. David Gilmour and Carlos Santana were the first known Muff users. 1971 – Little Muff Pi The Big Muff was designed by Mike Matthews and Electro Harmonix in the late 60s. It was a unique take on the still new fuzz circuit and during a time when guitarists had only a few pedals to choose from. In August 2017 Electro-Harmonix released the first in a series of nano sized Big Muff reissues housed in their small aluminum enclosure - the Green Russian Big Muff. This reissue was marketed as " the authentic reissue of the legendary Green Russian Big Muff Pi. We should know, we built the original. Now you’ve got the exact same sound beloved by guitarists and bassists alike at your fingertips, but in a smaller, more pedalboard-friendly enclosure. So, throw off your chains and unite with the finest harmonic distortion-sustain device ever made." It was an immediate hit for EHX. I am a Gilmour fan , so much that I started playing 2 years ago and I have literally hit the ground running . I started with the an acoustic and made the jump to electric last year .Five years later, the first compact version of the Muff was released, the Little Big Muff. 2007 – Big Muff Pi USA reissue V9 In fact, this pedal is not even a fuzz at all: this is a warm, dirty pedal divided into two sections: overdrive and distortion. If features a pair of NOS NTK275 germanium transistorson each section, for a truly vintage distortion sound. I am using a Marshall 1959HW 100 watt Super Lead amp that has has component upgrades by the great George Metropoulos of Metro Amps.
