But the story also details her complicated love life, as well as the touching and relatable relationship that she has with her father. Basically, we couldn’t put it down when we read it last year! It might feel a bit slow at times, especially the transcripts but it's so worth it. The ending was so satisfying. Joy Behar Calls On Will Smith To "Get In The Ring" With Jada Pinkett Smith On 'The View': "He Sits There And Takes It" Stream It Or Skip It: 'Christmas at the Chalet' on Lifetime, Where Divorcée Teri Hatcher Explores Love, Purpose, and Skiing in Aspen At thirty-seven years old, Carrie makes the monumental decision to come out of retirement and be coached by her father for one last year in an attempt to reclaim her record. Even if the sports media says that they never liked the 'Battle-Axe' anyway. Even if her body doesn't move as fast as it did. And even if it means swallowing her pride to train with a man she once almost opened her heart to: Bowe Huntley. Like her, he has something to prove before he gives up the game forever.

With all of these overlaps and coy additions of past characters to new stories, one wonders whether Reid was planning for this level of interconnectivity all along. I know for a lot of people she never left, but after really loving a couple of her earlier books, I have been disappointed by Daisy Jones & The Six and Malibu Rising. The format in the former didn't work for me (I very much like to be immersed in a story) and I don't know what was going on in the latter but it didn't hold my attention. one of the great injustices of this rigged world we live in is that women are considered to be depleting with age and men are somehow deepening." TJR’s heroines are flawed, but brave enough to rise from the ashes, learning from their mistakes by taking risks and challenges. Sometimes you really hate them or resent them, but they always find a smart and unique way to get under your skin and charm you with their power, endurance, resilience, and bravery. This raw and powerful read shows Carrie growing and learning, about herself as much as others. Though she's an abrasive character, readers will cheer her on every step of the way Sunday Express

Need Help?

biggest thing for me is that the whole ~takeaway message~ thing that TJR always goes for in her books is less obvious in this one. i feel like i haven't taken a frying pan of "THIS IS THE POINT" to the dome this time and i really appreciate that.

The use of the Spanish did not bother me, because I do understand it, but for those who can’t understand you will not miss that much, as there was nothing important in those dialogues, except the father’s love and tenderness.Second, there is some depth to this book as we sort through Carrie’s relationships and feelings. Carrie unapologetically talks about how she is the greatest tennis player of all time and how much she works for her success. And people don’t like her outspokenness. A fascinatingly realistic look into the world of elite sports where driven and flawed characters' private lives are just as intriguing and controversial as they are on the court Business Post
