The lens is heavy but nor unbearably so. When shooting I tended to hold the bottom of the lens and not the camera itself. The hood does add more bulk, but overall it’s compact enough to go on one side of a messenger bag. Focal range The weight. It’s certainly not the heaviest lens you can buy from Fuji, but at 995g (2.19 lbs) it’s a bit hefty.

The Fujifilm XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR lens attached to the Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver camera, tripod mount attached Everyday photography– While 50mm is a bit tight for a lot of scenarios, I do find it surprisingly flexible. Pair this with something like a prime and a mid-range zoom and you’ve got a super versatile kit. Crop from above image at 100%. If this is about 6" (15cm) on your screen, printing the complete image at this same high magnification would result in a 50 x 30" (125 x 85 cm) print! There's a pop-out and easily lost little cover that lets you try to fiddle with a rotating polarizer or grad. The Fuji XF 50-140 is super-sharp at all settings. It's sharp edge to edge at every aperture. Only under the most stringent lab conditions can I see the slightest corner softening at f/2.8 at 140mm. Look at the shot above; even wide-open at f/2.8 and 140mm it's sharp edge-to-edge and has no distortion or falloff. (Of course only the center row is actually in focus.)Weed Vineyard, 15 January 2015. Fuji X-E2 at ISO 200, 140mm at f/22 at 1/15 second hand-held, Athentech Perfectly Clear. Full-resolution from camera-original JPG. On an older sensor like the X-Trans II, it is a slightly different story. The focus is nowhere near as snappy. Although still perfectly usable, it's not in the same league as when using it on an X-Trans III body. Honestly, I relied on the teleconverter a lot because I was shooting photos of animals and it’s often not possible to “zoom with your feet” in those kinds of situations (not just because you’re in a car, but because it’s not safe). Fujifilm’s XF 50-140mm f2.8 is a bright telephoto zoom for its X-mount mirrorless cameras. Announced in September 2014, it delivers a popular 75-210mm equivalent range with a constant f2.8 focal ratio that’s ideal for close-range sports, action and wildlife shooting, as well as portrait work with flattened perspective and shallow depth-of-field effects.

I should not that all but the first image in the next set was taken with both the 50-140 lens and the Fuji TC 2x teleconverter. Since my primary use case for this lens was wildlife, most images use both. A herd of zebras just munching in Kruger National Park, not using the teleconverter Baby hyena in the den (with teleconverter) An afternoon quarrel (with teleconverter) This crocodile photo is both zoomed all the way to 280mm, but also cropped. I would’ve needed Fuji’s 100-400 to really nail this photo, but I think it’s still decent for the web. Where to buy this lensImage stabilization works great; all my shots at 1/15 at 140mm are sharp and it should work much slower, too. This lens takes beautiful photos, has fast autofocus, a fast fixed aperture, optical image stabilization, and more. So, what’s the catch?
