Things We Hide From the Light is the Things We Never Got Over sequel and Lucy Score’s second installment in what is to be a three-book series. While the first book, Things We Never Got Over, told the story of Knox Morgan and Naomi Witt, Things We Hide From the Light focuses on Knox’s brother, police chief Nash Morgan, and insurance agent Lina Solavita. She was seventeen now, and I had heart palpitations every time I thought about her leaving us for college in a year. I wasn’t ready. But I knew from the look on her face that she’d be making more trips home than she’d originally planned to be with her sisters. This was one of those books I didn’t want to stop listening to. It was 16 hours long and I listened to it in a day and a half! If you’re a fan of Kristen Ashley’s older books (think the CM series) this book gave off those same vibes. The story was different, but it gave me the same kind of feelings, as well as having epic secondary characters. I highly recommend this one and really hope Score gives us some more books, specifically Nash’s!Your father and I have been climbing the walls all day,” Amanda announced, hands on hips. As a fortysomething myself, I especially notice that the majority, if not all, of the books I read in the romance genre, focus on characters in their 20s or early 30s. Kudos to Score for making her leading man a bit older and therefore more relatable to people in my age category. For a second, I wished fiercely that my own mother could have met her grandkids. That she could see how her sons had grown up and the women we’d chosen. But loss was part of love. I thought I was deluding myself when I finished this book?! I thought to myself, “did I really love this??? Or was this just the first book I got excited for in what feels like a while??” The agency called three days ago and said we had two little girls ready to join the family,” I explained. “We didn’t want to tell anyone until we got them home.”

She creates, a delightful reading, witty dialogues, and characters that you wish they could be your friends the Scores with cutest names, and the monthly newspaper and Facebook group? Who on earth wouldn’t want to be part of that world? Broken men break women. It’s what Lucian believes, what he’s witnessed, and he’s not going to take that chance with Sloane. He’d rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats. But not everything is completely impervious to outside forces, least of all Lucian when faced with a sassy small-town librarian. For a spicy romance novel, I feel the last quarter of Things We Never Got Over was a bit of a reach as it attempted to cross the line into thriller territory. While I understand the story needed more depth, I am unsure if this plot twist really worked. It felt a bit forced.

We now learn why Lucian is the way he is, how Sloan plays into it from Day 1, and how the two fit into one another’s lives. the only good thing about this book was waylay and luciansloane. i can’t believe an 11 year old was the only mature person in this book. Like earlier said, Lucy Score does a fantastic job in her characterization. You will enjoy reading about the initially arranged romance between Luke and Harper. Harper, the heroine is affectionate, cheerful, kind, hardworking and courageous. Also, Luke, the male protagonist is funny, sweet, mysterious and intense. Something happened to him that he is not able to forget and that has made him not able to advance in many aspects of his life. Other characters that appear in the story include Aldo, Sophie, Gloria, Claire, Charlie, Frank, Joni, and Ty who are essential to the story.Naomi and Knox have an interesting meet cute. When Naomi rolls into town with daisies in her hair she doesn’t expect the welcome she gets. See, her twin sister who is basically a menace to the town, asks for her help. When Naomi shows, she is, of course, mistaken for the twin. That lasts for a bit but ultimately she carves her own place out in town, along with her niece who she’s taking care of.
