Description

The idea for the game was first proposed in 2005 under the name project X. It was first released to the public in 2006. Keeping score in Pictureka is a simple task, the winner of a game is the player who has the most cards at the end of the agreed-upon rounds. Board game to iPhone conversions have given us some of the best games the portable platform has seen, like Carcassone and Catan. Combining the tried and tested gameplay of board games with the portability and solo options of the iPhone make for good times. Conversely, hidden object games are a big hit with the casual PC crowd. Sitting directly at the intersection of hidden object and board game sits today’s title… Pictureka!

Cheating may be a bit extreme, but to keep a lighthearted tone include those who are also mistaken as well. Fortunately, there are a lot of cards included within a standard set of Pictureka. So include as many cards as possible to prolong gameplay.Usually with less than five players playing they get two cards each. What would qualify as someone who is ‘cheating’ at Pictureka? Pictureka! by Hasbro Games is a fast-paced family party game perfect for younger children. Picture a crazy mash up of Dobble and Where's Wally, where two or more players, aged 6+, scan nine tiles of zany artwork to find specific pictures or objects within those pictures and collect cards. The player, or team, with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

Whoever wins the mission keeps the card and your turn is over. The player to your left takes their turn. Read out your mission to the group, then roll the die. Whatever the number is shown on the dice, this is the number of items you will have to find.

If this is the case, then all the players agree upon a fitting punishment for the offending player. Keeping Score in the Pictureka Game If at any point someone catches a player cheating, then other players can point them out to other players by shouting ‘ Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire’!

If a player shouts at ‘Pictureka’ and then fails to point out where the mission objective is, this would be a good example of a player ‘cheating’. The level playing field the game provides will help younger players make memories of adults and older brothers and sisters scanning frantically trying to he first to find the objective and shout Pictureka! Try to keep the ‘punishment’ lighthearted as well, like getting the offending player to apologize to everyone. Alternative Games to PicturekaOne of the pictures is an arrow with points on both sides, right and left. This arrow means that the player can switch positions of any of the game tiles. Blue mission cards are the ‘Find it First’ cards which require players to be the first to find a specific object on the tiles. Pictureka is an example of how board games designed for kids can be really beneficial in developing different skills. Whilst also being great fun too. Pictureka! is simple to learn and so much fun to play. It is great for all ages and, in fact, playing with a wider variety of people adds something to the game and it will become a firm family favourite. As it is not a strategy game with lots to learn and understand adults have no real advantage over children. In fact, it often appears that the younger the player the better the eyesight and faster the reactions and so this often results in the older players becoming more competitive as they start to lose to the younger ones!
