Das Cover ist nichts spektakuläres, vermittelt aber die passende Stimmung. Für mich wirkt diese Junge schon etwas gruselig und könnte gut in einem Horrorfilm mitspielen.

Unfortunately, the book tried too hard to be the TV series. The series was incredibly French in that every scene was a marvel, it was breath-taking scenery, slow-motion wonder and beautifully directed visions. Even the French broadcast of the 6 Nations has slow-motion in-sets and wonderfully directed captures. It's what they do. But that can't be put in to a novel: it needs to be novelised; as in, good description and compelling story-telling. Mae, Molly, Elise, and Jules are all friends, but as always, with dynamics like this, there can only be one best friend, and it works out great if the same people find each other to be besties. Mae and Molly have always been closer, and so when Jules disappeared, Elise, who always felt that Jules was her BFF, became the wheel on an axle missing the other wheel. So either their relationship would have to evolve into an Estonian Nobe 100 or Elise was always going to feel like a teeter totter without someone to make her bounce. One is a young girl by the name of Callie. No one really knows much about her except that she works at a local store and lives in a trailer park close to Trevor grandparent's property. Yet, Trevor believes she knew her grandfather and he cared for her. The story's very ambiguity steadily feeds its mysteriousness and power, and Danielewski's mastery of postmodernist and cinema-derived rhetoric up the ante continuously, and stunningly. One of the most impressive excursions into the supernatural in many a year.As soon as they reunite, they notice how different Julie is from the way she used to be.. and not in a good way. I haven't even touched on the ending and the differences in Julie--this is purposeful. I feel that to allude to anything more would potentially spoil the experience for others. This is a novel you simply need to experience first-hand. Also, The Return was set in a hotel which is why I compared it to The Shining but don’t worry. This book is nothing close to it. In my opinion, it’s much better and so much creepier. Los Campos de Concentracion Franquistas Entre la Historia y la Memoria – Javier Rodrigo (SIETE MARES)

This book is definitely not a thriller, it’s horror and grotesque and even at times funny. I recommend reading it based on entertainment alone. It’s beyond bizarre; quite dark. I know Nicholas Sparks has lots of romantic tearjerkers, but this isn’t one of them. It's better you know that coming in, so you can adjust your expectations! Harold and Lucille Hargrave's lives have been both joyful and sorrowful in the decades since their only son, Jacob, died tragically at his eighth birthday party in 1966. In their old age they've settled comfortably into life without him, their wounds tempered through the grace of time ... Until one day Jacob mysteriously appears on their doorstep-flesh and blood, their sweet, precocious child, still eight years old. Deciding to have a girl’s weekend, the four go away to an Inn in the Catskills to reconnect. The Inn boasts rooms that are all quite different and ostentatious. Of course, no one gives a thought to the fact that they are the only ones staying for the weekend! When Elise first hears that her best friend, Julie is missing, she doesn’t believe it. Elise, Julie, Mae, and Molly are all very close friends though Elise has always felt closer to Julie.

Inspiration

I can’t move because I can’t catch my breath, my lungs have forgotten how to breathe. She puts a bony hand on my shoulder...I’m not going to hurt you.” I love Harrison's attention to detail--the clothing, hairstyles, setting...I get a strong sense of place and can visualize everything in a very movie-ready, cinematic way while I read.

Fiz um voto de que ficaria casada na saúde e na doença. A saúde é a parte fácil; é permanecendo fiel na doença que se revela o verdadeiro amor.”Not long after arriving in town he meets Natalie, a police deputy, and he is immediately drawn to her. While Natalie feels the same about him, Trevor can sense she’s hiding something, and she doesn’t want to let her guard down. I’m always intrigued by books that deal with missing people. This novel really caught my attention with its great cover and interesting description.
