Description

Three Sisters moves along at a good pace and then you get to the end of the story to the Epilogue, Author's Note and the Afterword. I am gutted! God bless the author's that can tell these stories and more importantly, God bless those that were not able to survive and those that did. When the adults leave the room Livi crosses to her sister’s bed and lies down beside her, proceeding to wipe the perspiration from Magda’s face with a dry flannel.

These three sisters somehow survive and escape the death camps, moving across Europe, to Slovakia, and to Israel with astounding force and determination. Their love for each other and their unique bond knew no bounds. Heather Morris can do no wrong in my book and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. From international bestselling author Heather Morris comes the breathtaking conclusion to The Tattooist of Auschwitz trilogy. This is a work of fiction, as it states clearly, but many of the characters included in this story were real people whose stories are shared through the creativity of Heather Morris. It’s so difficult to imagine that in this world we live in less than one hundred years ago genocide, a horrible abomination to kill Jews was orchestrated, it’s beyond belief! This book is wonderful! This is the true story of 3 sisters, Cibi, Magda and Livi, who made a promise to their father before he died that they will always protect one another. Years later, when all three were reunited in Auschwitz, this promise would be put to the test again and again. Will they be able to survive the cruelty, heartbreak, near starvation and so damn much more!? guide them into adulthood, attend their weddings, hold his grandchildren. The operation is a risky one, and if he doesn’t survive, this may be the last day he spends with them. If that is the case, however awful it is to contemplate on this glorious sunny day, then what he needs to ask of his girls, must be said now....

Cibi understands now: some things are just too awful to accept. Maybe it’s a good thing—who knows what they may yet have to endure? Maybe it’s a skill she too will have to learn to cultivate.”

The scene in which the group of girls who have just survived the death march find an abandonedhouse and decide to take the dining table outside to eat is incredibly powerful. Why do you think they did this after everything they’d been through, rather than eating inside, and would you have done the same? Livi stops squirming as Menachem plays with her soft, curly hair. Already he has described her to their mother as the wild one, the one he worries will run with the wolves, and break like a sapling if cornered. Her piercing blue eyes and petite frame remind him of a fawn, easy to startle and ready to bolt. In Auschwitz-Birkenau the three sisters are reunited and, remembering their father, they make a new promise, this time to each other: That they will survive. Morris ( The Tattooist of Auschwitz) follows the real-life Meller sisters, who all survived imprisonment at Auschwitz-Birkenau and a winter death march during WWII, in her extraordinary latest. Morris skillfully chronicles the lives of the sisters from childhood to old age, balancing fictional invention with extensive research and immersion into the Mellers’ lives. Readers will be greatly inspired by this story of resilience. --Publisher's Weekly (Starred review) What can we do?” Yitzchak asks. “We have already lost everything—our right to work, to feed our families … What more can they take from us?”
