Adidas may have done this to help with the flow of the shoe, but I have not found it to affect the feel. The outsole is still incredibly durable and grips well on wet, dry, pavement, and gravel. I have always questioned whether this system really provides any technical advantage or if just adds to the shoe’s weight. That question is still unanswered by the Boston 9. My instinct is that the shoes would be just fine with out it.

From time to time carriers may deliver earlier or later, or on non working days however this is cannot be guaranteed nor should it be expected. Robbe: I’m going to be honest in that I’m working through some injury stuff so didn’t get in the 20 miles on this, so take my review with a grain of salt. Now, that I have run 50 miles in the Adidas Adizero Boston 8, I have noticed some durability issues and have a couple of critiques, but I am largely pleased with the shoes’ snappy and do-everything-well capabilities. Appearance of the Adizero Boston 8 The ratio of firmness to cushion is still spot on and the 8 works well for daily training but didn’t leave me feeling beat up after a longer 12-16 mile run. The box came and was opened to reveal a new pair of Boston 12's and the first impressions were good. They look great, but looks can be deceiving.

Adidas AdiZero Boston 9 Upper Unit

For medium runs, the shoe clearly shows the reason why it was designed. We have tried them both on repeated short and "for 4 times the turn of the death". The Boston were reactive, but not as responsive to the previous model 7. On the other hand, we were impressed by the good protection. Clearly the design of the shoe is excellent and the feeling of support and stability is a hallmark of Adidas. Long runs Over the years, it has seen a number of releases, including Boost foam in 2013, cushioning material delivering responsive support that is more durable and provides greater energy return than traditional EVA foam. Tailored Fiber Placement debuted in 2018 with the Solar Boost, and this new design technique, which involves individually placing each fiber of the upper, creates an extra snug fit.

While subtle these tweaks have improved the transition of the shoe which wasn’t bad to begin with but now smoother with a bit of added power through toe off that it was missing before. In relation to the previous model Boston 7, the shoe is not very different in terms of aesthetics, with a very similar construction. If we were to evaluate the differences, we would mention the following: While it wasn’t an ice box, no shoe is going to feel cool in those temps. All that to say, it got me through an 11-mile run feeling no worse than any other shoe.

I enjoy running in the Boston 8 and will keep them in my rotation in the future. The shoe has a simple and race-like feel but can handle the rigors of daily training. The upper performs well but feels cheap in hand. Continental sole: the layout has changed slightly, especially for the Torsion system, see below for details. From what emerges from Adidas, the choice was made to allow an improvement in the grip on the ground. We applaud the choice, thinking that it was already a strength of this model. Thomas: The lacing can take a few misfires before you get it dialed in, and it isn’t the easiest set up to make adjustments. The BOOST has that cushion with a pop, but when you compare it to Skechers Hyperburst, BOOST seems heavy and dated. In this shoe, it still works but you can’t help but wonder how much better the shoe could be with a light foam that delivers the same amount of energy return as the BOOST. Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days.

Thomas: The Boston 8 is one of my top daily trainers for 2019. The ride is silky, the cushioning is protective yet responsive, the upper fits without irritation, looks good, and secures the foot at all speeds. I’d put the Boston 8 up against the Pegasus 36, Reebok RunFast Energy and the Rincon. All would be solid choices for “do it all” shoes, daily mileage, tempo runs, and racing.

Robbe: I’m gonna tell you to take Thomas’s thoughts on these, especially if you enjoyed previous models of the Boston. I mean, I thought this was a good shoe, but it didn’t jump out at me as a go-to. It’s certainly better than a lot of shoes I’ve reviewed this year, but I’m not going to keep them by the front door where my wife can trip over them for weeks on end. That spot is reserved for only the best.

Upper, the upper now sports a lightweight and breathable mesh coupled with internal reinforcements. Furthermore the three bands have changed slightly and are wider and more visible and positioned in the front part; The Boston 9s continue to employ a Continental blown-rubber outsole in a grid pattern that delivers the best traction I have ever experienced in a shoe. The Boston 8 maintains its standing as one of the rare shoes that feel fast during a 5k and reliable enough to eat up the daily miles. Grippy and hard-wearing Continental rubber The only sound came from the aquarium’s filter, purring along as it cleaned the last of the waste from Bubbles, the family goldfish, now upside-down and utterly unresponsive. The midsole also utilizes a thermoplastic platform in the midfoot for some added stability. Adidas calls this feature the Torsion system and has been using it in their shoes for years.
