In addition to the above, we also recommend using the latest version of the Automower® Connect app. Firmware version The spiral cutting feature is by far one of our favourites. If the robot lawn mower detects uncut areas with grass of a certain height, it will make a circular motion and extend that circle for each lap – just like some of the robot vacuum cleaners do. You can set the intensity of this feature. The intensity setting determines how tall the grass has to be to trigger the feature. This feature works really well. And the neat part is that you can keep the mowing schedule to a minimum if you use it since the spiral motion will help determine if Automower 415X has missed any areas. Automower® 415X is a grey-coloured robotic mower with a four wheel platform, designed for medium-sized lawns around 1500 m 2 with some slopes up to 40%. It has automatic passage handling and triple search function which facilitates navigation through complex areas, too. Automower® 415X replaces a medium to large pedestrian lawnmower.Automower®requires its charging station to be installed nearby an electricity power source, but the machine itself is battery-powered.

The robot mower can be set to run at any time to suit; it is safe to operate around pets and children, and should it come up against any obstacles it will simply stop, turn around, and continue on its way. Automower® uses 3 pivoting blades to cut the surface of the lawn very little and often – you won't be able to see the clippings – and in turn creates a noticeably different, beautifully finished lawn. Automower® 415X has a cutting width of 22 cm and a height of cut adjustable 20-50 mm. Frost guard Adjusts the cutting schedule according to temperature to prevent damage caused by mowing frosty grass.Husqvarna Automower 415X constantly cuts the grass as it grows. This is by far the gentlest way to cut grass. The included Automower Connect 10 years contract only applies if a third party provides sufficient mobile coverage in the area. Success around the edges of the lawn has been a bit hit and miss, particularly after we had to reduce the boundary line settings to stop escape-artist tendencies. However, we have to strim the path edges and around the tree when mowing with our regular Ride On, so life hasn’t changed on that score. Perhaps Husqvarna could invent a robot edge-strimmer next? The Automower 415X has a big red stop button on the top. That button also opens a hatch covering the display and the buttons to navigate the user interface on said display. There is no knob for the cutting height adjustment since that is programmed electronically.

In the app you simply press schedule and create time slots for the different days of the week. You can have multiple slots with different time spans and multiple days attached to each slot. The majority of robot lawnmowers use what’s essentially an invisible fence to stay in your yard. As part of the setup process, you have to string a wire around the edge of your property; this wire connects to the base station, which sends a low-voltage current through the wire. The robot lawnmower senses this current and turns to stay on your lawn. Please note! Never use a high-pressure washer to clean the charging station. Quietness The Husqvarna Automower 415x is virtually silent, which is a big plus if you have hyperacusis (a condition when everyday sounds seem louder than they should), and it could easily run overnight without disturbing the neighbors. Spiral cutting The mower automatically detects areas of longer grass and starts spiraling instead of zig-zagging until the errant patch is sorted (mesmerizing to watch!). In the settings area of the app you can adjust the installation fittingly, like changing how far it should drive past the boundary wire (depends on how much edge cutting you want) and what cutting height it should have. If it is the first start of the season you can set a target height and the mower will then start off by mowing at a bigger cutting height and gradually lower it during the coming weeks until it reaches the target. You can do the same adjustments to the settings, schedule etc via the display. It has great readability and a user friendly interface. We do however recommend the app since it’s a lot more handy and you also get remote software updates through it. Terrainability and performance The connectivity also means you can control this robot lawn mower from your smart speaker or your Apple Watch. It even has support for IFTTT so you can include it in your advanced smart home installation – if you want to.Husqvarna Automower 415X a reliable and high-performance model in the X-line series suited for the midsized lawn. It mows complicated lawns up to 1500 m2, featuring systematic passage mowing for perfectly cut narrow passages and it easily handles slopes with an incline of 40%. GPS-assisted navigation and a host of features including Automower® Connect make it the intelligent way to keep your lawn green, healthy and perfectly mowed. Included with the 415X is a 1,300-foot spool of wire and a bunch of small plastic stakes. Installing this boundary wire is the most time-consuming aspect of the entire process, as you have to work your way around your yard, pounding in the stakes every foot or so. (You’ll also likely have to adjust the wire later depending on how the robot lawnmower reacts when it encounters objects near the wire.)

Comes with a Small Installation Kit. Suitable for use on open lawn areas of max 800 m² or complex lawn areas of max 400 m². Automower 1 series are the most basic versions. They have three wheels and are recommended for small lawns. Right now that series only conists of the Husqvarna Automower 105.

The 2022 version of the Automower 415X (and last years version if you update the software) come with a handy feature named intelligent mapping. It’s a brand new feature where the robot lawn mower analyzes your lawn by GPS and measuring data, and then saves a map of it. You can use that map to create different zones, and each zone can have its individual mowing schedule and cutting height. This means you can have one zone that is temporarily not being mowed at all, and other areas being mowed more or less often. The Automower 300 series is their standard models. They only have a bluetooth connection (you can buy an additional module for LTE connectivity), are recommended for medium sized lawns and don’t have the premium design with LED lights and such. Right now this series consists of Husqvarna Automower 310 (2021), Automower 310 Mark II (2022), Automower 315 (2021) and Automower 315 Mark II (2022). An onboard GPS system creates a map of the garden, including where the boundary and guide wires are installed. Husqvarna Automower will then register which parts of the garden it has covered and adjusts its mowing pattern accordingly. This will ensure optimized lawn coverage and an excellent cutting result. Since we have multiple test lawns we set the GPS option on. It means the AI and the mower work together to identify remote areas and make sure each part of the lawn is cut often enough. But since AIM is available now you can also draw different zones on the map (more about this a bit further down in this review), or you can simply use starting points to send the robot directly to the remote part of the lawn a certain percentage of the starts.
