Wife of Suspected Long Island Serial Killer Accused of 'Trying to Capitalize' on Case With New Docuseries

The only slight downside is that you'll need to invest in some kind of protective cover or perspex lid to keep the VC-E dust free. Either that, or box it up each time you've completed cleaning a batch of LPs. Once your records are clean, it’s time to properly store them. Older records came in cheap sleeves that yellowed over time, so it’s worth upgrading them with a more effective set. The first and most cost-effective method is to use a manual record cleaning machine, such as the Spin Clean Record Washer. Compact machines, such as the Spin Clean are a great way to batch-clean a lot of records in one sitting. They work by essentially giving your records a bath using a cleaning solution and distilled water. All you have to do is gently spin the record through the cleaning solution while the built-in cleaning pads do the heavy lifting. You can read and watch our full review of the Spin Clean, here. Vacuum Record Cleaning Machines One of our mottos at Tapi is that prevention is often better than cure, and when it comes to vinyl flooring maintenance, that rule definitely applies! Here are some ways in which you can prevent dirt, stains, and marks from ruining your vinyl flooring before you have to take drastic action! Cleaning Machines – Once you have a big collection, cleaning records by hand might be a lot of effort. There are vacuum cleaning machines that automatically apply a cleaning solution and then vacuum the liquid off again. There are also spin cleaners that clean the record with the solution as it spins with the brushes cleaning off the dirt. Although effective, they can be expensive.Dry Cleaning – Use a carbonfibrebrush to clean your vinyl before and after every play. Brush lightly along the grooves and this will help prevent the build up of dust and other dirt. The carbon strands (on the outer surface of the cleaner) reduce the static charge on the vinyl (which attracts dust) and the inner part (usually a cloth material) then collects the dust on the second wipe after the static is reduced.Remember to regularly clean the brush too. This should be a regular practice in your listening sessions. Avoid wearing outdoor shoes on vinyl flooring where possible, especially high heels or metal-trimmed soles. Vinyl flooring is very hard-wearing, but the constant use of hard shoes will inevitably leave marks.

Doormats are a great way to make sure you don’t bring grime and dirt into your house and over your flooring – keeping them at external doorways helps keep the dirt at bay.

A worn stylus can permanently damage your records. If you’re unsure about the condition, play on the safe side and replace it. As a matter of practice, I replace my stylus at least once every year. How long a stylus will last depends on how many records you play, the condition of your records, and how well you maintain the stylus with regular cleaning. On average, a diamond stylus tip will typically last between 800 and 1000 playing hours. (That’s a best-case scenario of about four records per day). If GrooveWasher is unobtainable where you live, I can also recommend the Vinyl Revival cleaning kit. This solution is safe and alcohol-free, but does require a two-step cleaning process (clean and rinse). Record Cleaning Machines Place the record in the bath sliding it between the two cleaning brushes until it rests on the rollers at either end of the reservoir. We’ve all been there. First, use a clean cloth and the spot cleaner in the Tapi Maintenance Kit. Try to keep the cleaner just on the stain itself. Then wipe with a damp cloth to remove any residue. How to get clean drink spills Leave the record to dry naturally or wipe it over with a fresh microfibre lint-free cleaning cloth to dry off the solution.

Better still, if your turntable manufacturer provides the option to upgrade your platter for an acrylic model, this will allow you to place the record directly onto the platter, thus eliminating the need for a mat altogether. Whichever surface you choose for your platter or mat, they all have pros and cons – you can read more about this topic, here. Turntable Setup & MaintenanceWet Cleaning – Highly recommended when you want to give your records a deep clean. A mixture of record cleaning fluid and water (distilled, not tap!) works well. Clean with amicro-fibrecloth and dry with a separatemicro-fibrecloth. So when you’re not playing them, where is your vinyl going to live? And what are the best ways to store them? Ideally you’ll want to keep them in a clean dry place, avoiding extreme temperatures and humidity (so not in the bathroom or sauna if that’s what you were thinking…) What you’re doing is trying to avoid warping the record. Warping is when the record bends out of shape which often leads to unplayable vinyl. There are methods ofunwarpingbut prevention is the best cure, so keep them away from direct sunlight and high heat. Rankin, Dan. REVIEW: Explosions In The Sky – "Take Care.." blaremagazine.com. April 25, 2011. Retrieved on April 29, 2011. Step one is the proper storage of your precious records when they’re not in use. Firstly, always store your records vertically and away from extreme temperature or humidity changes to prevent warping. Never lay your records flat as this is a sure way to warp them over time. Secondly, dust and dirt are the audiophiles’ worst enemy, and the best weapon here is prevention. Always store your records in their sleeve and place them inside the cover. The aim of the game is to keep the amount of time that a record is exposed to airborne dust and dirt particles to an absolute minimum. Outer and Inner Sleeves
