About this deal

I'm going to insulate the entire inside floor with foam board and put the rubber mat on top of it, along with pulling the batteries out again and adding the foam board under the rubber mat already in place. If the lithium batteries are installed inside your RV, the battery thermal wraps will not needed (assuming, of course, you keep the temperature in your RV high enough to prevent freezing). If the thermal wraps are needed in your application, wrap each battery after the heating pads are applied to the batteries. Note: Expion360’s bus bars cannot be used with Expion360’s thermal wraps due to the narrow, 1/8-inch distance between the batteries when connected in parallel. After the thermal wraps are in place, wire each heating pad to the main fuse panel or directly to the lithium battery using the included 10 amp fuse (we installed ours directly to the batteries using positive and negative bus bars). Lastly, install the master control switch to allow on-off operation of the heating pads. Operation

It is very important to ensure your expensive investment in LifePO4 batteries do not freeze while they are being charged. They will be damaged beyond repair. If your battery ever freezes DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE the battery. Allow it to thaw at room temperature before you re-charge! What differential temperature do you need to maintain? That is a pretty large mat. You could get a rough estimate of power needs. I would be worried that your battery will not last long between charges. Silicone rubber is well suited to the production of heated mats which are produced by laminating fine resistance wires or an etched foil circuit between two sheets of silicone rubber. This is reinforced with a glass textile to give improved mechanical strength.

The heat pad carries about 15W per side, so 14- or 16-gauge wire is typically recommended for extra wire length. Note: Expion360 will be incorporating a thermal cutoff switch in their generation 2 VPR PowerMod batteries, which will be available in the spring of 2020. The low temperature shutoff, according to Expion360, will be a feature of the battery management system and will prevent charging below 32 degrees F and discharging below minus 4 degrees F. Today, we are proudly introducing our own branded RS PRO Adhesive Silicone Mat designed for areas where standard heating methods are challenging to apply. Our Mat is self-adhesive and has etched foil element embedded into a glass cloth supported rubber compound. Precise and flexible heat distribution plays a crucial role in many applications where temperature control system for heating, warm and frost protection in drums, cylinders or hoppers machinery is invaluable in heating technology. The goal to fulltiming in an rv is to run from extreme cold weather but in the past 2 years I've had to be in it for a short duration before I could move. When it gets that cold here I will just take the battery out and bring it inside. But I am many weeks from "that" cold here.RS PRO is our own-brand range of great-value products. Each part of every RS PRO product is stringently tested against demanding industry standards. We give it our seal of approval only when we're confident of exceptional quality. That's why RS PRO is trusted by engineers worldwide. Two comments on possible errors in the directions, and a question. First, in Step 2 it now says “Plug the two white (positive) wires from the temperature sensor into the first push-in wire connector.” I am sure you meant two wires from the heat pad. Thermostat Control] Built-in thermostat control, this heating pad will turn on at 45°F ( ±5°) and turn off at 86°F (±5°F) automatically. It will help prevent your tank from freezing but won’t drain your battery. I have no experience with this pad maybe someone else does or installed something similar. It has a built-in thermostat that is set to turn itself on at 45°F( + - 5 degrees) and turn itself off at 68°F( + - 5 degrees). As long as the on/ off switch is in the on position. Interesting idea, I hadn't seen that kind of set up before. Basically a tiny mini-split? The first problem I see would be in the summer time, adding more heat to the battery box. If your batteries are in the living space they should get no where near freezing. The only problem with liths is charging when below freezing. I don't take the bus out much, if ever, in the winter. I'm just using the heat pads to make darn sure the batteries never get charged when they are below freezing. Besides the heat pad, which is set to come on about 38°F I also have a total disconnect of the batteries from everything set at about 35°F.

It is worth to note that control of the temperature should always be in place, and the safety margin applied as the maximum peak temperature for this silicone part should never exceed +300°C. If you cannot afford the battle born pad, you can use a septic tank heater pad. It works in the same way but may possibly melt your battery case if you are not careful. You can avoid this by adding some protection or a way to distribute the heat across your entire battery bank. I would personally put the batteries in a insulated container, then add a thin sheet of conductive material like sheet aluminum over the pad so that the heat it produces can warm up your entire battery bank. Picasso, I've never seen one of these heating pads in person that's I'm wondering about the placement of it. Placing a heating pad below the battery will eliminate the only face of six that is causing the low temperature problems.

Using 12v instead of 120v saves the lose of converting from the inverter. The only thing that I'm thinking about is with the built in temp on the heating pad will it be turning itself off because it will be within the sandwich under the batteries and not in an open air space of holding tanks?
