I’m not sure which product you applied to your cat. You mentioned that you used one for cats under 10 lbs, but there are two products that fit this category: small cats (2 to 5 lbs) and medium cats (5 to 9 lbs). I've been using this for 10+ years, since when you had to have it prescribed/through your vets. Glad when it was 'downgraded' so you no longer needed to see your vet & pay higher prices for it, especially if like me.. you have 'Acquired' a few cats.. like 6, + the stray/feral's i care for. Results speak for themselves.. Never had or hardly seen a flea or the tell tale signs.. for over 10 years.. Works! Available as a spot on, it is easy to apply and treats the whole animal. Advantage can be used on cats and dogs from 8 weeks of age, and on rabbits from 10 weeks. It is safe to apply to lactating females and doing this will treat the puppies or kittens as well as the adult. Advantage and Frontline contain different ingredients so you can use them close together. You should only need 1 type of flea treatment though, Frontline lasts 1 month so should be working.Can I allow my pet to swim when using Advantage? Yes. The active ingredient in Advantage sits in the waterproof layer of your pet’s skin and the product remains effective if your pet becomes wet on occasion (for example after exposure to heavy rain or swimming). However, re-treatment may be necessary on some occasions, for example if your dog is a frequent swimmer; in these cases do not treat more frequently than once weekly. There isn’t any need to keep them apart. Some of the treatment will come off in the environment as residue, and some will come off on the cats if they play. However, this won’t be a significant amount. Legally, I can’t recommend any off-label use of an insecticide product. Plus, not applying the full dose of the correct product can lead to under-dosing and control failure. Do not use in animals that are known to be hypersensitive to the active substance or any of the excipients. In very rare occasions skin reactions such as hair loss, redness, itching and skin lesions may occur. Agitation and disorientation has also been reported. Excessive salivation and nervous signs such as incoordination, tremors and depression have been reported exceptionally in dogs.
