Its buggy sometimes it stops working(Hard reboot required). But you can use monitor mode, channel as you like, txpower is adjustable(default only 18dbm). i don't know if that's the issue but it worth tryingSecond method (dkms way) should be the good one now that kali 2017.1 allows it.
