About this deal

Can I use API SALTWATER MASTER TEST KIT for reef aquariums (as opposed to API REEF MASTER TEST KIT)?

Read the test results by comparing the color of the solution to the Ammonia Color Chart. The tube should be viewed in a well-lit area against the white area of the chart. The closest match indicates the ppm (mg/L) of ammonia in the water sample. Rinse the test tube with clean water after use.

Add 5 drops of Nitrite Test Solution, holding the dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to assure uniformity of drops. I would imagine many people are in the same situation with their aquarium PH. I wish that instead of providing two separate tests that supposedly span from 6.0 PH to 8.8 ph, they would instead provide a narrower range in one single test, say from 6.5 to 8.0. While some aquarist certainly have tanks that fall outside this range, I think it would meet the needs of most. We recommend that you take a few minutes each week to monitor your aquarium conditions and create a better underwater world for your fish. Testing your aquarium water has never been so easy or accurate! Add 8 drops from Ammonia Test Solution #1, holding the dropper bottle upside down in a completely vertical position to assure uniformity of drops. Every parameter has different instructions, so you need to be accurate while following the steps. However, all the bottles are numbered, and the steps are detailed, so you won’t struggle to get the results right. Effective Results

Vigorously shake the Nitrate Test Solution #2 for at least 30 seconds. This step is extremely important to ensure the accuracy of test results. This time around, I have learned more about what is going on with the water and how the biological filter works, where bacteria in the tank breaks the fish’s ammonia waste into Nitrite; then nitrite into nitrate. This healthy bacteria is the goal of completing a fishless cycle; will talk more about this in a separate upcoming post.Well done! You’ve successfully tested your aquarium’s water with the API Freshwater Master Test Kit. What’s next? To complement your “healthy” water, why not get it (and keep it) crystal clear? Fish continually release ammonia directly into the water through their gills, urine, and solid waste. Uneaten food and other waste also add ammonia to the water. A natural way that your aquarium handles this ammonia is through the biological filter, or natural aquarium cycle. However, as with any natural processes, imbalances can occur. This is why it’s important to regularly test for the presence of ammonia, which can spike unexpectedly in your aquarium. As soon as it is detected, ammonia should be removed, otherwise it will damage your fish’s gill membranes and harm their respiration, which can eventually result in fish death. Even small amounts of ammonia stress fish, suppressing their immune systems and increasing the likelihood of disease outbreaks. You can remove ammonia from your tank by performing a partial water change, and by dosing with a solution specifically designed to treat ammonia. Test frequently for high ammonia using API FRESHWATER MASTER TEST KIT.
