When you reveal a Guacamole Card, all players must shout, "Guacamole!" and the last player to react loses the round. However, if anybody erroneously smashes their hand down in the center on a Guacamole Card, then they are the loser for that round, regardless of who shouted last. Avocado Smash is an excellent choice for family game nights with smaller kids since it trains their perception, focus, and motor skills in a fun and exciting way. Not all of the special cards you’ll find in Avocado Smash result in smashing and shouting. In some instances, doing this can even lead to your loss. When a Change Direction card is played players will also reverse the count. If the count was increasing with each player it will now decrease and vice versa. At the beginning of each game session, evenly deal all the 70 cards among the players. The Avocado Smash game doesn’t involve any points or score counting, making the whole game perfectly straightforward. The main goal is to get rid of all your cards as fast as possible. The current count is “seven avocado”. As the card that was turned over features seven avocados the players will race to slap the cards. What You’ll Need to Play Avocado Smash The same situation occurs when two cards of the same value meet at the top of the central pile (e.g., 8 and 8, 10 and 10, and so on.), OR when the number on your card matches your counting (e.g., your card shows number 3 exactly when you’re supposed to count “three avocados”).
It is not uncommon to see multiple players in the finale. The ultimate winner of the game is whoever smashes the cards at the right moment first. The first player to run out of cards is the winner; but they are only declared the winner if they survive the next smash! Another problem with Avocado Smash is something that it shares with all of these type of games where all of the players are trying to slap the cards at the same time. Players are likely to slap the cards at the same time. This can lead to players hurting their hands. This is especially true if some of the players are overly aggressive. I don’t really see any major injuries occurring. Players need to be conscientious of other players though and try not to slap too hard because they were overexcited.
