The A487 continues and runs alongside the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. After Newgale, we continue down Welsh Road taking us through the National Park. This road runs parallel along the coast and dune hills, which on a clear day with empty roads offers mile after mile of pleasurable cruising. In the height of summer it can get busy, with the single-lane roads on the west coast struggling to cope. The shoulder season of April/May and September/October might be preferable, with quieter roads, fewer midges and often better weather than in the summer. Each episode will see Andi’s creative sparks fly, devising unique themed dishes to serve up on the big day. For inspiration, she’ll meet local chefs and suppliers, getting to grips with the regional produce and recipes that make the area special. One bike is never enough! Typical of all Southern National Parks and AONB, the riding is immensely enjoyable and made even better by the stunning scenery. With the day’s ride starting to wear on us, we discuss the option of riding through the night to avoid the final pitch. However, after a number of road closures and diversions heading towards Exeter and stopping for fuel while both hungry and frustrated, we realise that I had already paid for that evening’s pitch at South Farm. Plus, stopping for the night would make the end of our tour much more enjoyable.

Day 32 brings another morning of bright sunshine and a view we had missed the previous night. Overlooking the start of the Jurassic coast, which spans 96 miles from East Devon to East Dorset, we have a room with a view and an inspiring way to start the final day. I remained on the investigation for the next three weeks and was given the job of creating a sequence-of-events chart which, although basic, started to plot the movements of those involved as I sifted through the various witness statements and records of interviews.In 2021, there were 38,593 new motorcyclists in Britain, representing 1.06% of all the motorcyclists that year. Unsurprisingly, as it’s the region with the larger rider population, the South East also had the most novice motorcyclists. The 7,103 bikers accounted for 18% of all new riders in Britain – of this total, 731 were located in Reading and 681 were situated in Guildford.
