About this deal

They essentially force you to focus more and retain what you read. They encourage mindful concentration and contemplation. Reading and journaling are truly the perfect pair. They have a funny way of motivating you to do more of both! Just like there are many reasons to keep a reading journal, there are so many types of book journals you can choose to keep.

Don’t forget to think about what kind of PENS you’ll use in your brand new journal. Different tips, ink types, or colours can go a long way in creating the perfect book journal. Here are some of my personal favourites: I tend to avoid numbers-based challenges, but I do like to consider my reading habits each year and what kind of books I want to read more of. My 2020 reading challenge was to read one nonfiction book per month and one book from my shelf. To make it really simple, leave off the notes and just keep a running list of books. You might be surprised by how helpful it is to just have a list of the books you’ve read.

The truth is, even when the most voracious readers finish a book and are blown away by how fantastic it was, we just don’t always remember it weeks, months, and years later. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.

Mara (They/Them) has accidentally on purpose made their entire life about books and stories. Mara graduated with a B.A in creative writing and theatre and is halfway through an MFA in Creative writing. In addition to writing for Book Riot, Mara also has written for The Independent Book Review, Wargamer, and The Other Half, to name a few. They also work as a fiction editor with The Minison Project. Nearly all of their published articles can be found here.

Have you ever been out shopping or talking with a friend and heard of a book that seems perfect for you? Try to think about the different elements they have applied in their manuscript: their point of view (POV), their use of different figures of speech, their use of poetic devices, etc. It is not wrong to make some comments about them from time to time, especially when you read something that seems to pop. You can also refer to reading log examples for more related examples on book journals. 5. Relate the book to what’s going on in your life.Start anywhere–today, last week, the start of the year. Write down the book, author, and any details you want to record. That might include: I’ve discussed tons of options for ways to use a book journal to enhance your own reading life, and I’m sure there are more. Now it’s time to get started on your own reading journal!
