On the movie front the camera retains its predecessor's approach too, offering full HD recording via a dedicated position on the camera's mode dial, with full manual control available for those who want it. There's a new digital zoom function, offering 3 - 10x magnification, and the 600D also has sound recording level control built-in, with a stereo sound meter to help judge the right setting.

The Canon EOS 600D is an 18.0 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera, released by Canon on 7 February 2011. [1] It is known as the EOS Kiss X5 in Japan and the EOS Rebel T3i in America. The 600D is the second Canon EOS camera with an articulating LCD screen and supersedes the 550D, although the earlier model was not discontinued until June 2012, when the successor of the 600D, the 650D, was announced. The 600D gets a 'new' kit lens, the EF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS II. According to Canon this is identical in specification to the previous version, and features exactly the same optics and IS system: it simply has a revised external design. The visible changes suggest a paring down of production costs, for example the 'white square' alignment mark for mounting the lens is now simply painted on, rather than moulded. The camera will also come in a kit with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. This is a really nice digital SLR camera that has been barely used recently so I've decided to sell it. I have had this camera for over 2 years. The video works very well for exposure, especially in difficult lighting areas. The problem is the focus is slow and hunts. It is best to use it in manual mode and with fairly fast lenses. This was an upgrade to EOS 350, but I only use 2 of the lenses I used before with the 600D - Canon EF 50mm 1.8 and Sigma 70-300 mm. Photos are good and the lens profile works well with the Canon lenses I have. Profile does not work with non-Canon lense like my sigma 17-70 2.8-4 and the 70-300mm. I have also bought a Canon 10-18mm wide angle lens to add to the 18-55 is and 55-250 is lens, plus the lenses mentioned earlier. Laing, Gordon (April 2011). Canon EF-S lens mount, a subset of the EF mount designed for cameras with APS-C sensors such as the 600D I bought my Canon T3i in 2011 and it still works great. Never had any problem and for an amateur photographer like me, it's more than enough to take high quality photos without any specific knowledge. The screen, inherited from the mid-range 60D, is also notable in that its aspect ratio matches that of the sensor—a rare feature among DSLRs at the time of introduction. [3] Scene Intelligent Mode (or Full Auto), Portrait, Landscape (Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Sunset, Default setting), Close-up, Sports, Night Portrait, No Flash, Program AE, Shutter-priority, Aperture-priority, Manual, Auto Depth-of-field, Movie This new piece of kit is very similar but quite a few dollars cheaper. The specs are similarly very close, with one exceptional difference: the new baby is 240 grams lighter in weight, made from stainless steel and polycarbonate resin with glass fibre. Which says a lot: pros like cameras with a dab of weight while the amateur fraternity goes kinky for models that don’t lower the shoulders.

The Canon EOS Rebel T3i is great. It has the ability to take excellent shots, you can learn alot about photography with it. And if you're new to photography it wouldn't be wise to invest in a higher-end expensive camera that you have no idea how to operate. Read the manual a couple of times and you'd be good to go, its not that difficult to use. It's also clearly aiming to make life as easy as possible for SLR newcomers to jump onboard and start experimenting with creative controls, while offering plenty of room to learn and develop their skills. But there's an awful lot of competition in this market space at the moment, and the 600D will have its work cut out to stand apart from the crowd and tempt potential buyers away from the small, sleek and lightweight mirrorless models that will sit alongside it on the dealers' shelves. Read on to find out how well it fares in this competitive market. A brief history; Canon entry level digital SLR series I had to buy Nissin flashes as the Sigma 500 flash is not compatible, even after being sent to Sigma for a fix.

[2] This feature has not been included in any subsequent models of the Rebel line, or in the EOS M mirrorless camera (although in that model, it can be implemented with Magic Lantern open source software), but returned with the 2013 release of the EOS 70D.
