I don't see what happens because I'm gone, but a few times the unit was moved a few feet away from where I placed it. I don't know if one of my cats is trying hard to get to the other compartment's foods before it's time, or if the unit is getting pushed around while they are trying hard to eat the food from the bottom edges. The unit has never been tipped over though. The biggest issue I had was that I really struggled to get this thing to work. I am not one for reading instructions, however even I had to admit defeat and try and get to grips with the manual. That was a complete waste of time. Thankfully, I found a Spanish YouTuber who thoughtfully uploaded the basics onto a 'how-to' guide. I'm guessing that she found the instruction manual as useful as I did as it was rather basic on how to program the damn thing. Material-Plastic. Five food compartments will serve up to five meals, one initial feed and four further timed feeds while you are away. Each holds 11. 5 ounces wet food. Designed to be tamper resistant to pets, the C500 may be easily fastened to a wooden board for extra stability, if required. When not in use you can turn the feeder off to save battery life and still keep the stored schedule. If you’re not going to use it for longer periods it is recommended to remove the batteries.

Size of compartments. My beagle eats 1/2 cup of dry food each meal. This is the perfect size for that. You could probably fit 3/4 cup of dry food in there. Not sure about anything more than that. Cat gets half a can (size of the smaller tuna cans) and there is plenty of room in it - non issue. The Cat Mate C500 can be used with dry and wet pet food. There are 5 meal compartments that can each store up to 11.5 ounces of dry or wet food. This is enough for for most small dogs or 2 cats. Food is easily added to the storage compartments by removing the dispenser lid. You’ll want to be careful to not overfill the compartments as it may jam the rotating bowl.

Before using this, I was getting up every 2 hours during the night to feed may 16 year old cat who has Kidney Disease. Now, I can set 4 feedings and he is good overnight and I get to sleep! :) Our C500 5 Automatic Bowl Feeder allows you to set down a meal, with 4 more bowls hidden, to be presented at the time you choose So another example based on my timing above: if you enter all the times mentioned above and then first feed your pet at 10am, the next time it will rotate is NOT 6:30am but 4pm because that's the next time that will occur during the day because that's just how time works. They're like alarms you set on your phone. Mir war es sehr wichtig, dass der Futterautomat keine Plastischüsseln enthält und hier habe ich genau das Richtige für meine Katze gefunden. Der Automat lässt sich leicht einstellen. Dort kann ich bis zu 4 Uhrzeiten angeben, wenn meine Katze 4 Mahlzeiten am Tag essen soll. Die Kühlakkus sind auch sehr praktisch, da sie das Futter länger kalt halten. Ich hatte bis jetzt noch nicht getestet wie lange die Kälte hält aber wenn ich für 1.5 bis 2 Tage verreise, wird alles gegessen und meiner Katze geht es gut. Die Futterschüsseln waschen ich in der Spülmaschine und soweit sehen diese auch makellos aus. Ich würde nur empfehlen das Essen nicht in der Schüssel selbst zu zerkleinern, da der Löffel die Oberfläche kratzen kann. Other than the digital timer the Cat Mate C500 doesn’t really have any high tech features, but it doesn’t really need them. So there’s less to go wrong with it. Cleaning/Maintenance/Care

We bought these feeders because one of my cats can’t eat dry food and he is the most annoying creature in the world. For the last few weeks he was waking me up at 4am to be fed. Five large food compartments each hold 330g (3/4 lb) of food (or the equivalent volume of dried food) – enough for two cats or a small dogI can't believe I'm getting this worked up over an automatic pet feeder. Maybe something should be changed about the scheduling if some people are having this hard of a time. Or maybe they just need to work on their reading and understanding skills. The Cat Mate C500 is easy pretty easy to set up, but some owners get confused at first. So you may experience a slight learning curve when programing it the first time. I think some of this stems from there being 5 storage compartments, but you’re only able to schedule 4 feedings per day. See update at the end of this review* I've only had this thing for less than 24 hours and so far my cat and beagle have no problems with it. Part of this review is my actual review of it and the other part is to call out another review that has completely misunderstood how this thing works.

This unit is easy to clean. The food compartment tray is removable and the lid and bowl are dishwasher safe. The base of the unit can be cleaned with a damp cloth Safety Worthy of consideration if you need an automatic pet feeder that can be used with wet food. It really is the best option. The majority of users love the timer, praising it for it simplicity, but some (conversely) found it slightly too complicated. No consensus there, then, but it does appear to work reliably. The mechanics, perhaps not so much, again depending on who you ask. A few users have found their C500s went a little rogue, rotating the platters incessantly or misaligning the food trays; some of these tales sound like user error more than any great fault with the hardware, but they should offer something to think about if you're planning to use this to feed your cats while you're away for a little while. I tried to set my new c500 before going away last week and gave up. Had to borrow a friend’s old and simple one.
