Whether you think it’s sophisticated in looks or not, this system is certainly a sophisticated listen. The Marantz pairing, as we say, work well together – as you would expect – and the new Bluesound streamer adds a punch of rhythmic consistency to proceedings that is rather impressive for its price. Every album will appear as above, with the album artwork automatically assigned as featured image. From here you can load it onto your iPod, iPad or iPhone (… et al.) and utilise the AirPlay function which some streamers and all-in-one systems are compatible with. There’s an on/off switch (I wish it was on the front). Next to that is an HDMI port for connecting audio from the B2 to TV or newer audio gear. Keep in mind that HDMI is digital, so the audio signal will be as good as it gets. I don’t use it because I prefer some of the other connections. Personally I would be very wary of going done the Squeeze Box route. Logitech stopped making it in 2012, any hardware will be pretty old now, how long is it going to last? there plenty alternative ways, include using a smart phone or device like an iPad. The Pi is using just 500mb and I control it from a terminal on my MacBook Pro when working. It takes a lot less resources than iTunes and using iTunes Match. I don't want to store all those files on the laptop any longer. So, Apple's severs (iTunes Match), Raspberry Pi and Pi based NAS server was my solution.

One of the World's Smallest & Lightest - This BD/DVD/CD external optical drive & burner is one of the smallest & lightest in the world supporting BDXL and M-Disc. The ultra-compact USB 3.0 Blu-ray player allows you to read and write to all BDXL discs (including BD-R triple-layer 100GB media, BD-R quad-layer 128GB media, and BD-RE triple layer 100GB media) as well as Blu-ray discs. Weighing only 8.1oz, the Pioneer burner can be powered directly via USB (no AC adaptor required). Last time I counted, I had just over 22,000 MP3 files. As I had all the bits; the Echo, an old Pi and the SDD in a dead works laptop it cost me nothing. And regarding the location of the stereo in question - is there a HDMI-capable monitor or TV in the area? I'd appreciate suggestions for things to search for or to investigate, as I'm bored with having to use the computer as the head unit to play music.

Solid State Drive (SSD) variant available, HDX-SSD, for the music lover with an extensive collection Kodi provides a front end for accessing the media and there's android/OS apps so that this can be controlled from your phone if you can't be bothered looking for the BT keyboard Play them louder, though, and these speakers don’t complain. There’s punch and power when required, but also a level of subtlety that’s rare to find in a floorstander at this price. You can add an even tonal balance and stable stereo imaging to the list of plus points, too. Which brings us to the final piece in this sophisticated stereo jigsaw. Those floorstanding speakers. Suffice to say, these Wharfedales are easily the bestWe appreciate the 12.3’s articulate and expressive midrange and the seamless integration between the drive units. We like how Wharfedale has avoided excess; there’s enough bass weight to satisfy but not so much that it spoils the balance of the presentation. The lows are agile, satisfyingly rich and textured with it.
