Description

Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe healing ointment provides intense, long lasting moisturisation and helps protect, soothe, and relieve extremely dry chapped and chafed skin. CeraVe healing ointment combines a non-greasy feel with skin identical ceramides. The brand CeraVe was first launched in 2006, and their Healing Ointment was not one of their first products. Aquaphor on the other hand was developed in 1925 and had been around for more than 80 years before CeraVe was even founded. Although both products have soothing properties to calm irritated skin, the CeraVe Healing Ointment is probably the better choice if you have eczema-prone skin. Aquaphor is commonly recommended for fresh tattoos that need to be kept moisturised and bandaged. This is because it has hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties and can speed up the healing process. CeraVe is a dermatologist-developed cult skincare brand which hails from the US. The CeraVe story began in 2005 after experts noticed that many skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dry skin all had one thing in common: a compromised skin barrier.

The below ingredients are found in the CeraVe Healing Ointment, but not in the Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Inactive Ingredient: MINERAL OIL, PARAFFIN, OZOKERITE, DIMETHICONE, CERAMIDE NP, CERAMIDE AP, CERAMIDE EOP, CARBOMER, WATER, SODIUM LAUROYL LACTYLATE, PROLINE, CHOLESTEROL, PHENOXYETHANOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TOCOPHEROL, HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID, PANTHENOL, PANTOLACTONE, PHYTOSPHINGOSINE, XANTHAN GUM, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN For refilled products in the store, the most up to date list of ingredients should be obtained locally after refill of the product on the point of sale).I have used every type of product going... Vaseline, organic, drug-store, oils, etc. Nothing worked. I found an article where a dermatologist recommended CereVe for chapped lips due to the ceremides and hydrochloric acid. I thought I'd give it a go... even though it's apparently not made for lips. I bought it and popped some in a small container to take everywhere with me, and I use it any time I feel my lips are dry. The active ingredient in both products is petroleum jelly (also called petrolatum) but they have slightly different concentrations: CeraVe Healing Ointment contains 46.5% petroleum jelly and Aquaphor contains 41%. When it comes to ingredients, the CeraVe Healing Ointment and Aquaphor Healing Ointment have very different formulations. A patented delivery technology - Multi-Vesicular Emulsion (MVE) - to slowly release hydration throughout the day, for instant & long-lasting hydration

CeraVe’s innovative formulas also use MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology – or MVE. In fact, they’re the only brand that uses this combination to create highly effective and affordable skin care. CeraVe’s MVE technology lets the ceramide-rich products continually release into the skin, slowly allowing the ingredients to get to work replenishing your natural barrier during and after use. From CeraVe cleansers and moisturising creams to its cult CeraVe healing ointment, choose skin care that continues to work all day to strengthen your skin.CeraVe focuses on the science of ceramides to formulate skin care that builds strength and resilience. Using an innovative combination of 3 essential ceramides, CeraVe skin care helps you to achieve healthier, stronger skin from the very first use. So, what are ceramides? Hyaluronic acid: I like to think of hyaluronic acid like a sponge for your skin. It soaks up the hydration and prevents moisture loss, so your skin looks and feels plump and hydrated. Rejecting the notion that effective skin care must sit at purse-clenching prices for it to be deemed trustworthy, CeraVe are committed to delivering a line of affordable products that truly work. Cutting through the fluffy jargon with an ingredients-first approach, their essential blend of ceramides and fatty acids at the centre of every cleanser and cream leaves your skin feeling healthier and happier. Guaranteeing love-at-first-pump and proudly perched in bathroom cabinets everywhere is a member of their incredibly gentle and hardworking skin care range.

Please note that deliveries to the Isle of Man and some areas of the Scottish Highlands and Islands may take slightly longer to arrive than the above estimates.

Ceramides: One of the main skin-loving ingredients in this ointment is ceramides. Ceramides are naturally found on the outermost layer of our skin and are responsible for protecting it from damage and are essential for your skin's moisture and hydration levels. MVE Technology: This patented delivery system continually releases moisturising ingredients for 24-hour hydration Aqua / Water / Eau, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Petrolatum , Potassium Phosphate, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Carbomer, Dimethicone , Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cholesterol, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Phosphate, Tocopherol, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin The below ingredients are found in the Aquaphor Healing Ointment, but not in the CeraVe Healing Ointment. A clinical study from 2013 found that Vaseline was better at treating wounds after surgery compared to Aquaphor.
