I really loved this story, but other than a few minor typos that really didn't detract, there were two things that kept me from giving this book any more than 4 stars. After routing the shinobi, Vinera carries Dario to a pillar, but Dario wants to go outside as life in the castle is like a prison. He Vinera asks Tyrrell to cover for them while Dario contemplates on his sister, Princess Machérie, was probably already wed to Muraga though she had been crying for three days and nights about it. Had he not chosen to withdraw from the battlefield, his brave and proud sister would not have had to go through that. Vinera retorts that she is not Muraga's daughter. Doluza catches up to the trio with his shinobi and engages them in combat.

Okay so in the beginning I really wanted to dnf because there were non consensual scenes but the more you read on the better it gets.

Both Mikhail and Natalia have a rough story on their own so it makes sense for them to be a perfect pair along the line. What this story has that so many previous books didn't have was the amount of plot twist and betrayals. I suspected one from the beginning but never the others so that made the book so much better. I read so many faith summers books and was so happy to hear Eric, Aiden and Lucca appear in this book even though it's a stand-alone book. Natalia does not know what to do. That russian accent was geniunely atrocious and I don't think I'll ever be the same- Mont - Machérie - Sterne - Lilyth - Ramada - Glaciela - Lucio - Jeume - Setia - Lanan - Belis - Alstoria I found myself hooked by the plot because on one side I was rooting for Mikhail’s revenge (and trust me, he had really good reasons to want revenge) and on the other side, I was anxious and praying for Natalia who was trying to survive and lay low. I’m drawn to him because he lulls me into a false sense of freedom. Something I’ve never had but always wanted.'' -Natalia
