Mostly, you will taste sugar with a little bit of woody flavors and alcohol that wraps around them. ‘Chewing’ produces a stronger taste of corn and wheat. While this bourbon has a sweet and simple taste, it still has many subtle flavors which make it complex and enjoyable. The aftertaste’s lining includes vanilla, lemon tea with honey, and some wood spice. It is a very solid option if you’re looking for a bourbon that is not too hard to drink straight. Stagg Jr.

Eagle Rare 10 Year Old Whiskey | Master of Malt

Here is another star from the Buffalo Trace whiskey collection. Buffalo Trace boasts the highest professional scotch of its own. Many limited issues of the distillery become hits and disappear from sale in a matter of weeks. The Eagle Rare 10-year-old single barrel bourbon is created by the Buffalo Trace distillery. It’s not an over-hyped bourbon steeped in history and it’s not aggressively marketed. There are some who call Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon one of the crème de la crème of bourbon whiskey. It is not just that it is old and mature, but more importantly, it always delivers and leaves a lasting and full-bodied impression on its drinkers. How Much Is a Bottle of Eagle Rare? James "Jim" Beam and Joe Beam were the grandsons of Jacob Beam. Jim in particular continued his grandfather's legacy and founded James Beam Bourbon. Meanwhile, Charles Beam was born to Roy Beam, Joe's son. So, Charles Beam is both great-great-grandson of Jacob Beam and the grand-nephew of Jim Beam himself. Let’s have a go at that ludicrous paragraph. To start, “the birth of a nation” regrettably recalls an early bit of American filmmaking glamorizing the Ku Klux Klan. Is this a dog whistle for the un-reconstructed South, or a bit of lamentably foolish obliviousness? I’d guess the latter, but it’s still an unforced error. As far as American innovations go: I’m willing to rank the airplane, internet, and polio vaccine way, way ahead of bourbon, as much as I may enjoy a drink. Other distilled spirits in the world adhere to standards as strict – or stricter – than those governing bourbon. I could go on, but you get the drift. As a country-wide business, we know your customers and what they drink better than anyone else.

Eagle Rare 10 Year Single Barrel Review | Breaking Bourbon

A combination of factors. First, it is an allocated spirit, meaning Eagle Rare will never reach equilibrium. It's also a premium bourbon produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery, which, even if the whiskey inside the bottle were average, adds a layer of shine for bourbon drinkers. Above all, though, Eagle Rare is an exceptional whiskey and fills out the scorecard like few others can: it's affordable, well-aged, low-proof and award-winning. Its low-rye mash keeps the whiskey on the softer side, and the drinkable 90 bottling proof and 10 years spent in a barrel make it a crowd-pleaser. How much does Eagle Rare cost? Wild Turkey 101 is a higher alcohol version of the base bourbon. The 101 is almost cask strength. Some bourbons of the brand are unaged, which means they’re bottled at a low proof and you can add water to increase the alcohol content. It won’t need too much water to boost it to 50.5°.A big ol' bottle of Eagle Rare 10 Year Old bourbon! Holding 1.75cl of the fantastic bourbon produced by Buffalo Trace, this bottle is taller than a small dog. Maybe not a Beagle, but likely taller than most Yorkshire Terriers.

Eagle Rare 10 Year Old - House of Malt

It’s just a very well rounded bourbon and it is very reasonably priced for a 10 year release, meaning it makes a great daily drinker to have on the shelf. It has been known to vary slightly in quality from batch to batch but is generally very dependable. On the nose: Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord! This might be the most cheery nose on a bourbon I have tried. It’s so… good. There’s a wave of creamy vanilla to start. Underlying that is a luscious, juicy cherry at perfect ripeness, with a balanced tart nuance. All this is covered by a gooey layer of melted milk chocolate. I want to make a pie out of this. There’s also undertones of muddy clumps of earth and damp wood, in the best of ways. The peppermint flavor is very strong, and you’ll feel it on your tongue when you drink it. The citrus notes are also not-so-subtle, but they make it easy to immediately recognize the bourbon. To sum it up, Wild Turkey 101 tastes like a typical, high-rye bourbon despite being made from a low rye mash. Maker’s Mark I can’t tell you how many bottles of Eagle Rare I have walked by. They might as well have been invisible to me, and it’s not just the transparent bottle. Perhaps the relatively good availability lulled me into a sense of complacency regarding this brand. Originally created by Seagram in 1975 as a 101 proof (50.5% ABV) bourbon whiskey, the Eagle Rare brand was acquired by current owners Sazerac in 1989. The 101 proof version was discontinued in the middle of the last decade, leaving us with the current offering. Everything you need to know about the most popular bourbon whiskey on shelves today. The first scent to reach your nose when you bring it up to your face is your original interaction with the bourbon. Initially, with the first sniff, the aroma is a little sharp, just like when an eagle is holding onto its prey. But when the aroma is released, the sharpness vanishes, and a saturated, classic vanilla-caramel scent is revealed. After a few sniffs, you can tell that there’s a secret door to a delicious cherry-sugary world. You get candied cherry, cane sugar, and overgrown fruits. And you can scent the pleasant fragrance of the old cellar. For one, as Gear Patrol notes, Eagle Rare has been designed to create a supply-demand market in its favor by only releasing a limited number of its product to distributors at any given time. This is not new or even unique to Eagle Rare, though. There is a whole market for what are called "allocated" bourbons that use the same tactic to boost demand (via Wine Enthusiast). As per Bourbonr, the distillery uses two main mash bills for their bourbon, simply called #1 and #2, and two specialty mash bills, a wheated and a rye. While popular and coveted brands such as Blanton's use mash bill #2, Eagle Rare shares its mash with brands like E.H. Taylor, Jr. and the flagship and namesake bourbon of the distillery Buffalo Trace.Dwayne, thanks for your comments. It’s been an eventful 19 months since this review was published; I hope some of the reactions to this piece might have been reconsidered in light of the many transformative changes in our national discourse since then. John, I have the same whiskeys- ones that people go gaga over that leave me totally cold. As you note, there’s as many tastes and preferences as there are folks in the world. Eagle Rare, 10 Year Old, Single Barrel Bourbon is a premium bourbon, arousing the interest of many true whiskey connoisseurs out there. The complex, full-bodied, soft bourbon of Eagle Rare has an extremely delicate and long finish. The taste of whisky contains notes of ripe plums and cherries, and the flavor contains shades of spices, cocoa, and maple syrup. It is recommended to be served neat or over ice. The initial smell is light to moderate, sweet tea-like (a blend of honey, orange, lemon, and alcohol). Wood, grass, and floral smells get released by the swirling. The alcohol’s potency also increases. All in all, you will be pleasantly surprised by the odor. Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade.
