Healthcare workers and researchers are making a major impact on global health through vaccines for conditions like Malaria, COVID-19, HIV prevention, Lyme disease, and more.

From the bestselling author of Quiet Girl in a Noisy World comes a gently humorous and poignant collection of comics about anxiety and depression—because sometimes even the simple things like getting out of bed every day feel like an uphill battle. My third book by Deborah Tung, who writes about what she experiences: Books, introversion, and now depression, all core elements of her identity. I think if you are depressed and lost and have never talked about what is going on in your life, this is the book for you. I have at this point read SO many books about anxiety/depression that this seems familiar to me (you can see my GN-Psych library) but Tung's artwork--with cuteness and vulnerability and lots of space for reflection, simple, direct, is relatable. It's good! At Good Good Good it’s our job to look for Helpers in the midst of bad news — and time after time, we’ve always found them. Everything is OK is a hopeful story about mental health, dealing with anxiety and depression, and learning to treat yourself with kindness. I can recommend it to anyone struggling with mental health or who wants to get a glimpse into the lives of people who do. Debbie depicts many of the struggles I've been going through and the slow recovery journey. Throughout this entire book, I've felt like I'm following my own story of accepting that sometimes I might need to ask for help. Beautifully illustrated, this book couldn't have found me at a better time. This message of reassurance reminds people to put things in perspective. Other diseases have been eradicated, so this one can be too. 9. “This, too, shall pass.” Reid, Poppy (6 April 2020). "Album of the Week: Violent Soho, 'Everything Is A-OK' ". Tone Deaf . Retrieved 11 April 2020. Everything Is OK is a little ray of sunshine, born out of the author's own emotional arc. It can lean rather far into the saccharine for my cynical heart, but it's all done with the best of intentions.

If you could choose to be born at any time in human history, but you wouldn’t know where you’d be born, what your race would be, whether or not you’d be able-bodied, or how much money your family would have, you would absolutely choose the moment we’re living in today. It’s really good. Highly recommended. Looking forward to read more from Debbie Tung. But first, let me read Quiet Girl in a Noisy World. It’s challenging to define a time when it is acceptable to say “it’s going to be okay” to an acquaintance, friend, or family member. Perhaps you should consider how you would feel to hear the phrase in a given situation. The death of a spouse or partner is sometimes described as feeling like losing a limb. If you are going through a tragic or stressful situation, you may feel reassured that at least you are not alone in your grief. Alternative ‘It’s Going to Be Okay’ Messages for a Client, Coworker, or Boss Saying this to someone experiencing extreme anxiety or stress may not be the best choice. Even if you have the best intentions at heart, saying “it’s going to be okay” to someone implies that what they are going through is trivial. Even if their problem may seem inconsequential to you in the grand scheme of life, the person hearing this statement may not feel this way. All around the world there are people of all faiths working for the betterment of their local communities.

Being truthful about the state of our nation and world does not equal losing hope. Hope sees truth and still believes in better. That which dismisses or does not seek truth, but grins, saying "It will be okay," is naiveté, not hope.” — Bernice King Some offices have a family atmosphere. This may be especially reassuring to those separated from their families by distance or estranged from their families. Other Ways to Reassure a Friend Everything Is A-OK (booklet). Violent Soho. I Oh You / White Noise Records. 2020. 9341004071728. {{ cite AV media notes}}: CS1 maint: others in cite AV media (notes) ( link)If you're wondering, "Will everything be okay?" — the short answer is, yes. The longer answer is, it's complicated, but still yes. People of faith turn to God during times of trouble. If you and your spouse are prayer warriors, consider praying together. 36. “We’ve been through a lot together.” Offer these messages of reassurance instead of spreading fear to the others around you. Instead of spreading rumors, encourage a collective (mask-covered) deep breath. 11. “Let’s try to stay positive.”

I'm aware that I've talked about myself a lot in this review, but I can't approach a book like this without myself, you know? No one approaches a book in a vacuum. This simple phrase has been known to change lives. Remind your spouse or partner that they are loved. 32. “We have a ‘new normal.’” Whether you live far away or near your family member going through a crisis, you can figure out ways to help. For example, you can arrange for meals, housekeeping services, or grocery delivery from afar. You can also utilize Facetime, Uber, and other online services to support and assist a family member in need. 21. “Even though we have had our struggles, we’re still family.” This book touches on anxiety and depression and the author shared her experience about the issues through this book. Everything she felt during her dark days she shared with us through this book. I loved her approach. I got so motivated by reading this but I also felt sad when reading this one. But at the end everything is just makes me so motivated. There are many reasons your friend or family member may be feeling anxious. Child rearing, job changes, health scares, and addiction are some of the reasons that your friend may feel stressed. That list only scratches the surface of what could go wrong in a person’s life. Still, others don’t need specific reasons to feel anxious. Anxiety may be a part of their lives.I absolutely love the art style here, particularly the use of color. It's a dream to look at, and I like looking at pretty things. Firstly, the illustrations are so damn powerful they gave me chills. I felt so understood by this graphic novel and I know many other people can relate to it too. It is quite short but intense, and it covers the topic of depression and anxiety in such a natural and real way. I haven't read anything else from the author but this made me so curious about her other works. It gives a very necessary and hopeful message to people struggling with mental illnesses. The story is like a big warm fluffy hug from your very loved ones after a difficult day. Not just that, the author encourages you to ask for help so you can get treated if necessary and get new ways to cope with your issues. There are many causes for concern right now. While it is easy to go down a rabbit hole of worry, we can try to be positive sometimes. It’s fruitless to worry about something that you can’t control. Art exists in a public space to be interacted with. But that doesn't stop my dumb worrywart brain from thinking that I'm interacting with it wrong.
