Last thing, I swear. I also really hated the fact that Arthur killed Catherine. Yes, Catherine was obviously a terrible person, but dying was such an easy way out for her and it made me super disappointed. The crime thriller was published in the United Kingdom as well as the United States. In the process of its burgeoning popularity, it was translated into different languages so that it could be read by various readers all across the world. The sequel would come out in 2020 and is titled Good Girl, Bad Blood. Oliver- Oof, he's the most complex characters of all in my opinion. I hated him. But at the same time I appreciated how the author wrote him. Let me explain, you think you know someone all your life but things happen, life threatening ones, and the person you knew is no longer there and instead an absolute stranger and a selfish guy is in front of you. I liked how real and truly disturbing Oliver was. He is the typical Mr Know It All guy who can't do shit. Anyway, what am saying is that it's his crap that made other characters interesting and brought more life to the book as a whole. Tho, I hope I never meet someone like him in reality 👀😅 Overall, my expectations for ‘Five Survive’ were well exceeded; that scene with Red and her mother at the end?? I was crying like a baby, it was so beautifully done. Everything was tied up perfectly, while still leaving an open end for us to decide what happens, possibly my favorite way for a book to end. I'm an extreme scaredy-cat when it comes to anything crime or anything that could possibly happen in real life, but I ended up reading this late into the night and I was honestly scared to go to sleep because I have extremely irrational fears.Violence and the threat of violence is a constant in this story. The friends are terrorized by the shooter and frightened the next bullet he shoots into the RV might be the one that kills them. Red is haunted by the execution-style murder of her mother, a police captain, and agonizes over what her last moments must have been like. There are brief but graphic descriptions of people being shot (a gaping hole in their face, a halo of red pooling on the road, "her head undone, leaking out and soaking into the road"). During the night, one friend threatens another with a knife.

There’s a sniper out there. He’s watching them and he knows exactly who they are. One of the group has a secret that the sniper is willing to kill for. And you know, it does start out that way. People are in good spirits. They're excited for the trip to get underway, but then they get lost. Simon- he was kinda the 'comic relief' of the group and I do always like having that kind of character to lighten it up a bit 🤩 but I didn't care for Simon that much- he was just okay. you guys… that ending 🥲🤍 finally a thriller with an ending that didn’t feel too rushed or impractical Since her police captain mother’s murder, Red has been inseparable from Maddy Lavoy, though it’s often difficult for Red to witness the warm family dynamics Maddy and her brother, Oliver, share with their mother, an assistant DA and Red’s late mother’s best friend. Red, the Lavoy siblings, and three other friends—Reyna Flores-Serrano, Arthur Moore, and Simon Yoo—embark in a borrowed RV on a journey to Gulf Shores but instead find themselves in the crosshairs of a long-range rifle held by a man demanding that one of them reveal an important secret. As Red battles internally with her guilt and grief over her mother’s death, her companions become increasingly volatile and paranoid as the group tries to discern whose secret is the one the hostage taker is after. The sometimes-tedious, sometimes-intense moment-by-moment breakdown of events in the 31-foot RV (that seems much smaller as the night wears on) magnifies the claustrophobia. Subtle indications that no one can really be trusted alternate with mind-blowing revelations. Toxic masculinity is often at war with common sense and good judgment, and moral ambiguity abounds. Red, Arthur, and the Lavoy siblings read White; Reyna is Mexican American, and Simon is cued as biracial (Korean and White). (This review has been updated to correct a character’s name.)

She decides that the only way to do this is to put on a podcast and talk about it. Pippa’s able to make the true crime podcast with Ravi’s assistance, and it’s out just a short time before going viral. Now Pippa has not only something to say, but more followers than ever. With the ending, too, there were some things that were predictable while others were not. I still felt very thoroughly surprised with the resolution at the end, which was a welcomed surprise. I liked Simon too he was kinda funny. I really want more of Arthur but I guess we can't. His character intrigued me a lot. But still I don't like him for what he did. When readers last left Pippa Fitz-Amobi, she was working hard on her final project and doing her own sleuthing to come up with results. She started finding out more than she even thought she would, and now some time has passed.

You can tell from the start that Red is recovering from a trauma that has happened in her life. Since she can't afford to fly anywhere for break, her best friend, Maddy, actually suggests the RV trip. Good-naturedly, everyone else agrees.Everyone believes that Salil Singh killed his girlfriend, Andrea Bell, five years ago—except Pippa Fitz-Amobi. Pippa starts to do her research, but is beginning to discover secrets. Someone living in the small town would like nothing more than for these secrets to stay where they are in the dark. Pippa starts to realize that if Sal is not the true killer, then the murderer who really killed Andie Bell is still at large. I liked this book. I liked Red's character development, and I liked how fast paced this book was. Regardless of how fast paced it was, it did however feel a little slow in some parts, leaving me to skim read over the descriptions of items like a mirror. I liked how it developed, I liked the ending and plot twists. I guessed 2 of them, which I was proud of myself for, however I did not see all the others coming!! I wish the sniper could've been a little more attention but it's all good, the story was quite entertaining and the twists and turns make up for it.
