I added a few other small embellishments I made with wafer paper. I used a decorative hole punch to cut a snowflake out of wafer paper. I painted it gold and added a small red circle of ginger clay in the center. Given gingerbread’s connection to festive occasions like fairs it is perhaps not surprising that it should eventually become associated with Christmas. The “wood” planks made using a method from this very blog that I wrote about after my episode of Haunted Gingerbread Showdown on Food Network where I made a similar barn. I was able to use structural supports, which was part of the reason it was so much easier than the stuff I usually make for competitions. Then I sanded down the edges of the pieces and glued them together with Tylose Glue. I wrapped the pieces in painters tape to let them dry and sanded them until they were smooth.
