About this deal

The Go 3 has a built-in 310mAh battery that will get you around 45 minutes of recording time, with an additional two hours of capture supplied by the Action Pod (based on a 1080p/30fps trial w/ Wi-Fi and screen turned off). Based on my experience with the camera, I would say these numbers are pretty accurate, although there were a few instances where off-Pod recording tended to cut off around the 35 to 40-minute mark. That being said, I was shooting at the highest resolution/frame rate during most of my camera tests, because I wanted to see how long the cam could hold its own at max settings. Usually when you buy a Windows laptop for this cheap, you’re going to be inundated with a load of useless bloatware that will fill your screen with pop-ups and ads – it’s simply be a headache to deal with, especially if you’re not super familiar with digging around the Windows 11 settings app. Separate the two and the Action Pod becomes a wireless remote control for the camera, offering a live view video feed and a range of a few feet. While we’d have liked the range to be a little more generous, this remote aspect is a killer feature, and saves you having to use a smartphone running the Insta360 app for the job (although that remains an option). The touchscreen is prone to scratches, it’s a good idea to get some screen protector before you start using it. Personally I am not going to bother, but if you want to sell this camera later down the road, it’s probably a good idea to do everything you can to keep it in good condition. Get screen protector here: https://amzn.to/3PyD3Ei How to Use? Video Modes This camera can do both videos and photos, but since I fly drones, what I really care about is taking videos. There are two main video modes, Video and FreeFrame Video.

GO 3 Review: A Commendable GoPro Adversary - How-To Geek Insta360 GO 3 Review: A Commendable GoPro Adversary - How-To Geek

In Cinebench R23, the Surface Go 3 scores just 1,277 points which is nearly four times slower than the Surface Pro 8, and this SKU is a little over half the cost. And in PCMark 10, we get a score of just 2,596 points, which is the lowest score we’ve ever seen in that test. But laptops are one thing, it’s also important just how this laptop handles day-to-day.Bye-bye bumps. Our signature FlowState Stabilization means seriously steady footage. Shakes, bumps or rolls are removed—perfect for when the action gets rough! Without the Pod, the Go 3 is as basic as it gets. The camera module has a single button that, by default, starts a recording. You can swap its default capture mode via the camera menu (accessible via the Action Pod's screen) or require a double press to minimize accidental recordings. A red tally lamp on the Go 3 flashes when it's rolling footage. The GO 3, when placed in the Action Pod, bears a strong resemblance to a GoPro, right down to the graphical user interface.

On the camera, you’ll find a screen, a power button, and a mode-switching button, which make navigating the menu a breeze. Learn more about your Surface and customize it with the Surface app. To open it, select Start , enter Surface, and select it to open the app. If the app doesn't open, get it from the Microsoft Store.Because now that our PCs are one of the main ways we interact with the world, they just can’t be single-purpose devices anymore, and that goes for pretty much everyone. The pandemic has made multitasking so important, and it really is a shame that this device puts so much emphasis on the design instead of the internals. We would much rather have seen a less flashy aesthetic if it meant that it didn’t slow down when doing simple everyday tasks that everyone is going to have to do. Shoot with GO 3 in the Action Pod for perfectly framed selfies, flawless vlogging, or accurate handheld shooting. The camera lens and a recessed action button are located on the front of the camera. When powered, you can give that button a single tap to start recording video or to snap a photo. A second tap stops the recording, and pressing and holding the button will turn the Go 3 off. The GO 3 boasts FlowState 2.0, a digital image stabilization feature built-in to smooth out your footage and minimize camera shake and vibration. There’s hope for Gyroflow compatibility in the future since the camera can also record gyro data, but at the time of writing it’s not compatible yet. The Go 3 offers three levels of stabilization, each coming with a description to help you choose the most appropriate level for your needs. However, if you’re using the camera on an FPV drone, it’s advisable to turn off the stabilization feature and apply stabilization when exporting the footage from the camera. For a comprehensive experience with the Go 3, you’ll want to pair it with the Insta360 mobile app, available for iOS and Android. This handy app enables you to view, edit, set keyframes for, and share your captured content with ease.

Insta360 Go 3 review: The action camera with a split

By itself, the Go 3 camera has an IPX8 waterproof rating, which means you can use it for snorkeling or swimming at depths of up to 16 feet (5 meters). The IPX4-rated Action Pod housing is fine to use in the rain but isn't submersible. It measures 1.9 by 2.5 by 1.2 inches and weighs 3.4 ounces. The Go 3 boasts a variety of advanced features that set it apart from traditional action cameras. One of its standout features is the “Auto Editing” mode. Using artificial intelligence, the camera identifies the highlights of your video and automatically creates an engaging montage, perfectly synced to music and ready for sharing on social media. This is great time-saver for people going on vacation and doesn’t spend too much time on editing long videos. Get up to 11 hours of power, and Fast Charging to take you from low to 80% in less than 1.5 hours when you do need to plug in. Make it your own Insta360 says that software optimizations and a resolution upgrade to 2.7K results in crisp, clear videos. Additionally, there are no clip length limitations and a larger 310mAh battery allows it to shoot continuously for 45 minutes — a 50% increase compared to the previous generation. The GO 3 alone offers enough battery to last 50 minutes, with the Action Pod, you can expect 150-170 minutes of battery life. Recording at lower resolution (or using photo mode) will give you longer run time. The Action Pod is still functional while charging, so if you plan to shoot timelapse for example, you can leave the camera connected to a charger or power bank. Conclusion: Is the GO 3 Ideal for FPV?Surface Go 3 is the most portable Surface, perfect for your everyday tasks, homework, and play. Get to know Surface Go 3 GO 3's bigger battery shoots for 50% longer than GO 2! Join forces with the Action Pod to film for a massive 173 minutes! Now that's an upgrade. For the first time, it also comes with two clips which (with the aid of a magnet) allow it to be securely mounted on some accessories. Brilliantly, it’s also magnetic itself, which allows it to be fixed directly to lamp posts, bus stops, fridge doors, car bodies and similar surfaces. For those familiar with Insta360's previous version of the Go camera, the big difference with the latest model is the introduction of the Action Pod. Part LCD monitor, part settings dashboard, part recharge station, I like that the Go 3 can record on its own without the housing, but if you're low on battery, you can slap the camera on the Action Pod for up to two hours of additional recording. And seeing as the Go 3 only sports a 320mAh battery, the Action Pod is pretty much a must-have for vlogging and any longer excursions.

Another shared feature is voice command support, enabling easy control of the camera without needing to physically interact with it. The additional 1270mAh battery in the Action Pod extends the camera’s battery life to up to 170 minutes. One of the major reasons to buy a Surface device in the first place is that you’re kind of getting a pure version of Windows that you really won’t find elsewhere unless you build a PC yourself. There is no bloatware here, just a pure and simple Windows 11 installation. It’s something we’ve always loved about the Microsoft Surface lineup, and especially at this price point it’s not something you should take for granted. Following in the footsteps of the GO 2, the new GO 3 also comes with a charging case, or “Action Pod”.The Insta360 Go 3 offers FlowState electronic image stabilisation and horizon levelling, and it’s extremely effective– able to transform shaky handheld sequences into smooth scenes that almost look like they could have been shot using a gimbal. There are three levels available, but you can also just shoot in the camera’s FreeFrame video setting and subsequently add either horizon-levelled or FPV-style image stabilisation in post-processing. The Insta360 Go 3 comes in two main parts: the Go 3 camera itself and the Action Pod. The camera looks fairly familiar, being the same tiny Wall-E-esque white ovoid as the original Go and Go 2. It weighs just 35g and fits easily inside a closed palm; we’ve even seen people filming from inside their mouths using it, although we wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll also be pleased to know that the Go 3 is water-resistant up to 5 meters (IPX8), so you can film in the rain or even underwater without a worry! However, the action pod (charging case) has a lower water-resistance rating of IPX4, meaning it can only withstand splashes.
