is a good suggestion, you can buy that in very small bottles as well. You have to buff it in though; don’t let it dry on its own.

Is the modern water-based formulation of gummi pflege safe to use on door seals etc? I gather that the silicone based version was discontinued by BMW due to long-term damage. I'm thinking of this stuff:

Sonax Gummi Pflege does not provide a merely superficial improvement to the way rubber looks but provides deep down rubber protection. We think it works better than silicone-based products, which can leave a film on the seals that attract dust and dirt. The Sonax stuff works well on a Matt seal, but if they're shiny in any way, it doesn't really penetrate. Sonax spray Gummi is very very good on tyres. Shake well and apply to clean interior plastic, rubber and vinyl surfaces. Do not apply to any driving controls, steering wheels, pedals or floor mats. For hard to reach areas, spray directly onto a cloth or Perfect Polish Applicator to avoid overspraying. Another thing I would recommend is Koch Chemie PlastStar (PS), but it’s a solvent type dressing, not water based, probably not what you’re looking for. They specifically state it can be used on rubber seals, inside and out. They also do a PSS which is silicone free, but haven’t tried it.

I have been looking at the posts on various forums and over the years, and I think that I am confusing myself. I was going to suggest a Silicone spray. I recently cleaned my car windows and also the rubber seals which I cleaned with window cleaner. I then had a very irritating squeak when opening and closing the window. I searched around and read that Silicone spray would help with squeaky windows. I was a bit reluctant to spray any lubricant on window rubbers thinking that it would smear but the Silicone spray has helped with my problem, the squeak is gone and there is no smearing on the glass.Der Pflegeartikelmarkt für Gummipflege ist groß. Zwischen diversen Markenhersteller können die Kunden aussuchen. Conditions rubber weather stripping on car doors, windows and trunk lids reducing squeaks, rattles, wind noise and water leaks. Protects and keeps the rubber elastic. Restores color to dried out rubber. Protects against extreme temperature and UV rays. Solvent-free, water-based formula. Easy-to-use shoe polish type applicator makes application simple without the mess.” Nathan, I haven’t had mold. I did notice water evaporation under the cap after usage. I got used to allowing the foam to dry for a day with the cap not completely sealed to allow for that moisture to escape. The Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care 500ml restores all plastic and rubber trim areas of your car. Spray directly onto the surface, or use a cloth to leave behind a high or low sheen. Apply to dashboards and glove boxes to revive and shine.
