Is the modern water-based formulation of gummi pflege safe to use on door seals etc? I gather that the silicone based version was discontinued by BMW due to long-term damage. I'm thinking of this stuff:

Sonax Gummi Pflege does not provide a merely superficial improvement to the way rubber looks but provides deep down rubber protection. The Sonax stuff works well on a Matt seal, but if they're shiny in any way, it doesn't really penetrate. Sonax spray Gummi is very very good on tyres. I recently cleaned my car windows and also the rubber seals which I cleaned with window cleaner. I then had a very irritating squeak when opening and closing the window.
