The gray cowers, strands of color carried by the river’s breeze. Did the sun descend to Earth and decide to spend a day among its subjects? this story is very character-driven, you learn about their complications and about their journey from before the hospital to how they met sam (mc) and the blossom and peak of their friend group. second. i felt so disconnected from the main character and the writing itself tbh, and i only ever cared about two of the side characters - neo and coeur, my beloveds. they both deserved everything in the world, and they just needed to be happy and ugh 😭❤️‍🩹 i'm sad. but i also loved their story so much.

From prose to plot it showed the author’s inexperience. Self-published books written by young people can be very good( I’ve read many), but this one had all the hallmarks of what makes people skeptical of reading self published stories: poor editing, flimsy plot, and weak writing. I think the author has the bones here, and clearly has narrative ability, but this was a weak novel. Funny how memory works, isn't it? You remember what is strange more than what is normal. The normal days blend together, but the in between moments stand out." i know that this is based loosely on lancali's childhood as a chronically-ill kid and i intend no harm or hate to the author, i am just sharing my opinion on the story)Yeah, I did.” Neo and C are creating a novel together. Neo is the writer. C is the inspiration, the reader, the muse, the one with ideas he can’t always put into words.

If any of you follow Lancali on social media, then you'll know that this story is very dear to her for a number of reasons, but mainly because it's inspired by her own experiences with chronic illness, and as a young adult losing the one she loved to illness, while they were both staying in a hospital. Because of this, this book deserves to be approached with sensitivity and kindness. I Fell in Love with Hope is a drama and romance novel, written by author Lancali. It tells the heartbreaking story of Sam, when he was at his high point of happiness, the love of his life decides to take his life just like that. Sam collapses, until a ray of hope peeks through his window and makes him change. But I was wondering,” C says, still reviewing the chapter in his head, “why do they just give up at the end?” Eric, Eric—first of all—are those new scrubs?” Sony asks, pointing smoothly up and down. “They really bring color to your face—” The narrator, Sam, works through his grief throughout the entire novel. Before he met Sonny, Neo, Coeur and Hikari, they had their first love who was also named Sam. Sam passed away and the narrator gave up on hope and the possibility of being able to love again, because of the immense pain they felt from Sam’s death.C’mon, C.” Sony puts her hands on her hips. “What would we be without irony but boring clichés, yeah?” There was a moment where I believe Sam describes Neo’s mom’s reaction to seeing them, saying something like “I know from the look on her face that she can’t tell if I’m a boy or a girl.” That sentiment would have been nice if the fact that Sam’s androgyny wasn’t just because they weren’t exactly human. There was something else about the prose that kept annoying me and I couldn’t figure out what. Then I realized: it’s all so *quotable*. Now that I know the author runs a Tiktok account, it all makes sense: every line felt like it was meant to be put in a “quote video” or whatever. Everything was wrapped in so many layers of metaphor it was impossible to parse. There also weren’t many “service sentences”; everything felt like it was meant to be a gut punch to the point where nothing felt like one. I find this to be a particularly young/immature way of writing—in an attempt to make everything meaningful, meaning is erased, because they don’t know how to properly utilize poetic writing. For example: if i had to write a review for this book to sum up my words and the praise for it, i'd fail. maybe someday i'll be able to write down coherent thoughts but for now, my love of prose and tragedies has been fed and reading this made me cry 4 times: a new record. last. THE ENDING, wtf was that. 😭 the main character? she turned out to be "just in hikari's head" that's literally one of THE worst tropes ever, no one can argue. i mean, even if one of the mcs die it's better than that! idk if the author meant to show how they were soulmates through every life or whatever, but making the main character become the ghost of a hospital? is so not the right path, thanks.
