Now for the first time ever on Blu-ray™ with glorious digital high definition, Disney’s Jumpin' Jungle Classic has never looked so lush or sounded so good! Beloved characters, swinging music and new behind-the-scenes bonus features make this Diamond Edition Blu-ray™ a must-have for every family's classic collection! This is Disney animator Andreas Deja's favorite film and he has cited it to be what inspired him to become an animator.

Originally the film was going to be darker in tone and somewhat closer to Kipling's works. However, Walt Disney was not interested in the book's dark tone and instead wanted a more light-hearted character-driven musical in which Mowgli has to accept his inevitable manhood. Season Two: " The Ape Who Would Be King" • " Trunks for the Memories/ Kasaba Ball" • " Hathi's Makeover/ Curse of the Magnificent Melon" • " The Five Bananas/ Birthday Snake" • " Old Green Teeth/ The Elephant Who Couldn't Say No" • " Hair Ball/ A Tale of Two Tails" • " Waiting for Baloo/ Tree for Two" • " Nice Tiger/ Sleepless in the Jungle" Once more, the film was re-released on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital on February 22, 2022 for its 55th Anniversary. The song "Trust in Me" is based on a song entitled "Land of Sand" which had been written by the Sherman Brothers for, but not used in, Mary Poppins. Part of "Bare Necessities" was remixed for the theme song of its short-lived 1990s TV spin-off, Jungle Cubs. In the scene where Bagheera, the vultures, and Mowgli believe that Baloo is dead as well as Bagheera funerals Baloo, Paul J. Smith's organ score from Walt Disney's first film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is heard from the scene where the seven Dwarfs mourn Snow White on her bed before she is put into the glass coffin.

The Brave Little Toaster (1987) • Valiant (2005) • The Wild (2006) • A Christmas Carol (2009) • Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) • Mars Needs Moms (2011) • Strange Magic (2015) • The Lion King (2019) Animated film: Disney's Explorers Lodge • Disney Animation Building • Garden of the Twelve Friends • It's a Small World • Rhythm of the Jungle This film was rated G by the Motion Picture Association of America. In fact, it was the last Disney animated film to include the 1945 MPAA logo, as well as the last animated Disney film to be released during the Hays Office Code before its elimination in 1968. Bagheera is a sleek panther who feels it's his duty to help the man-cub depart with dignity when it's time for him to leave his jungle home. "Bagheera is Mowgli’s adoptive parent," says Ben Kingsley, who lends his voice to Bagheera. "His role in Mowgli’s life is to educate, to protect and to guide. My Bagheera was military–he’s probably a colonel. He is instantly recognizable by the way he talks, how he acts and what his ethical code is.” of

When the Walt Disney Company read " The Jungle Book", they decided to make it a more viewer friendly film and altered the story. Here are some main differences: Longtime Disney collaborator Terry Gilkyson was brought in to write the songs for the film. Gilkyson delivered several complete songs, but Walt Disney felt that his efforts were too dark. The Sherman Brothers were brought in to do a complete rewrite, on the condition that they did not read Rudyard Kipling's book. The only piece of Gilkyson's work which survived to the final film was his upbeat tune "The Bare Necessities", which was liked by the rest of the film crew. Kaa is a massive python who uses her voice and hypnotic gaze to entrance Mowgli. The man-cub can't resist her captivating embrace. "Kaa seduces and entraps Mowgli with her storytelling," says Scarlett Johansson. "She's the mirror into Mowgli's past. The way she moves is very alluring, almost coquettish." of Lupita Nyong'o voices Raksha, a mother wolf who cares deeply for all of her pups–including man-cub Mowgli, whom she adopts as one of her own when he's abandoned in the jungle as an infant. "She is the protector, the eternal mother," says Nyong'o. "The word Raksha actually means protection in Hindi. I felt really connected to that, wanting to protect a son that isn’t originally hers but one she’s taken for her own." of In the book, Kaa is one of Mowgli's close friends who rescues Mowgli from the Bandar Log, and tells him of the golden ankus, and helps fight the red dogs. In the film, he is a minor antagonist who wants to eat Mowgli. This is the first Disney Animated Feature to have a non-white protagonist and has been widely praised for South Asian representation. This film is extremely popular in Germany and remains the highest-grossing animated film in that country. In the book, Shere Khan is killed by Mowgli and a herd of cattle. In the film, he does not die but runs away and tries to put out the flaming branch on his tail.

The film was re-released on Blu-ray/DVD on March 26, 2019 as a Movie Club Limited Release (with the same discs as the Diamond Edition, but without Digital HD). Voiced by Idris Elba, Shere Khan bears the scars of man, which fuel his hatred of humans. Convinced that Mowgli poses a threat, the bengal tiger is determined to rid the jungle of the man-cub. "Shere Khan reigns with fear," says Elba. "He terrorizes everyone he encounters because he comes from a place of fear." of A digitally restored version of the film is the crowning glory of this 40th Anniversary Edition DVD. And in our humble opinion, the sumptuous, handcrafted animation easily surpasses state-of-the-art CGI for that cosy, old-fashioned storybook feel.

In the film, Kaa hypnotizes with his eyes. In the book, however, Kaa hypnotizes through a dance that affects everyone but Mowgli. Since the film's release, many of the film's characters appeared in House of Mouse, The Lion King 1½, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
