The lugs were a bit longer than what I would normally feel comfortable with, but I pulled the trigger and am happy that I did.

My only major complaint with the Orient Kamasu case is that the crown is too small and this, in combination with the crown guards, make it difficult to screw down (I usually have to use my shirt for extra grip).

Unlike the other Japanese divers in this segment (or at least when I bought my examples), Orient signs its crown and puts it in the customary 3:00 position. Using it is fine, but it is a bit wobbly when fully retracted. I reiterate that I’ve already reviewed the standard model here, hence I shall not bore you by repeating(or ctrl+c, ctrl+v-ing) my essay again since these two models are virtually identical apart from the dial colour, case colour and leather strap. Kamasu is a very fast predatory fish that can swim upwards of sixty miles per hour and can reach up to five feet in length, although specimens used for sushi are much smaller and usually only weigh less than a pound. The best kamasu comes fromKanagawa prefecture just south of Tokyo. While the case is identical to the original, they have changed up the finishing a tiny bit. Instead of a dual finished brushed top with polished sides, it now sports a brushed top, brushed sides and a polished edge in between. While not at the level of the higher end Orient Stars, the polished edge does add a little bit of refinement over the previous model.

The day and date window is nicely framed and presented on the Orient Kamasu. Also, the Orient logo, with its splash of red, blends in nicely with the dial. In addition to the crown, my only other recommendation for any Orient employees who might see this would be a version with no day/date comp, so we can see ALL of that beautiful sunburst dial. They don’t sell them in the UK so I got mine from Japan for 210 pounds but the extra money and made in Japan with the Kanji days if defiantly worth it. Ok this watch exceeds the hype – I own 2. A green dial and the first release ltd blue mother of pearl dial. Criticisms – Yes the crown is a little too small and the lume is not on par with any Seiko despite what the article says. I love the green dial when it’s not directly in the sunlight because then I find it too bright. Both run fast – I prefer fast rather than slow. Fibaly orient is selling this caliber aftermarket as the S. Epson YN56A the movements are the same size and are interchangeable with the nh35/36 but they are made in Japan and cost less, even If you don’t do anything you don’t need to wind it. My movement keeps +1 or 0 maybe +2 a day but if I position it at night correctly I can get 0 or +1 oddly enough the beat error on phone mic tomography shows it as being near 2.0 but it’s hard to trust a phone app. By having several replacement watch bands for your Orient watch, you’re doing a combo favor to yourself.

This Orient watch has a Steel silver case 42 mm in diameter and is fitted with a Metal strap. Inside the case lies a Orient movement and the watch features a Sapphire crystal. At Kissaki, our team strives to deliver an innovative culinary experience that's grounded in Japanese tradition. Our chefs bring years of master craftsmanship in the art of sushi. Our restaurants are designed to take diners on a culinary expedition through their senses with dishes based around mindful sourcing, seasonality, and quality. Plus, for slim wrists like mine, the deployant underneath is relatively short so that it doesn’t poke out from one side of my wrist. With a height under 13mm and modest lug to lug, it’s a good all-arounder. All in all, we aren’t talking about a watch that feels exactly like a multi-thousand Euro watch, but it feels a lot better than it should given its price. In summary this range is what the Mako/Ray wished they were, a sapphire glass version of themselves. The original Kamasu was released in 2019 and this new line is effectively a refresh of the 2019 Kamasu that adopts vintage-inspired style cues and round indices similar to the Orient Ray(or some would say Submariner).

Thanks for mentioning the undersized crown…it’s disappointing they didn’t make it larger. I had a Ray II briefly and ended up returning it because I couldn’t screw it all the way in without needle nose pliers! That’s kind of a deal breaker, because I almost never bring needle nose pliers to the beach or pool with me. Reply It’s one of my cheapist auto watches but it’s the one that gets the most compliments from the ladies. On the Orient side of things, this is undoubtedly one of the standouts for 2021. The original Kamasu was already a winner and the second generation refresh brings a whole new aesthetic to the line which is popular among many. This limited edition piece in particular really sets itself apart from the rest of the line style wise and really needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. The model I am reviewing today is the grey gradation dial variant. This piece I personally bought with my own money from BigTimeSGP. I enjoyed reading this. Thank you. Count me in the ranks of people who try hard to keep branding and marketing at arms length. With just one or two exceptions, I’ve never bought a watch at or over market, and the main reason for this is because those prices are inflated over production cost by spin. I had ignored it up until now because the 47mm lug-to-lug scared me and my scrawny 6-inch wrists away, but when I saw it on sale for the price of a nice bracelet, I asked to try it on and was asking to be rung up within seconds. While I don’t religiously record the performance of the movement on a daily basis, I’ve spent enough time with enough of these to tell you that the 40 hour power reserve is about there and that I get a pretty good accuracy of between +6 to +12spd across the board on these movements. When the original Kamasu first came out it was everything the Mako and Ray wanted to be. Basically a Sapphire glass version of the two watches with a different dial and a minutely different case, and it proved to be immensely popular.
