About this deal

At QD8 a single thread produced 97,376 IOPS (398MB/s), two threads 130,998 IOPS (536MB/s), three threads 167,900 IOPs (687MB/s) and finally with four threads, 181,293 IOPS (742MB/s). As you can see from the benchmark result screens we were able to confirm Kingston's official figures for the 1TB NV2 of up to 3,500MB/s for reads and up to 2,100MB/s for writes with test results of 3,672MB/s for reads and 2,621MB/s for writes. The NV2 is not intended to make full use of this bandwidth, but it is often a small step ahead of DRAM-less Gen3 alternatives such as the Samsung 980 (non-PRO) and WD Blue SN550 and also the DRAM-equipped FireCuda 510 in terms of read performance. CrystalDiskMark A kompakt, egyoldalas M. 2 2280 (22x80mm) kialakítás akár 2TB-tal bővíti a tárhelyet, miközben helyet takarít meg más alkatrészek számára, így az NV2 ideális a vékonyabb noteszgépekhez, kis méretű (SFF) rendszerekhez és barkács alaplapokhoz.

Find out if the Kingston NV2 2 TB M.2 SSD (model SNV2S/2000G) is suitable for gaming based on read/write speed and other factors. Also, learn how SSDs like this one can enhance your gaming experience. PCMark 10 includes a subset of tests to determine an “app start-up score” to be weighed into the total. We make use of the “cold start” times that measures loading times from disk. In these apps, the NV2 continues to impress with startup times that surpass the Gen3 SSDs in every test. This SSD is designed for use in desktop and notebook computer workloads and is not intended for Server environments.FPS (frames per second) is a measurement determined by what your computer needs to do every time it renders a frame from the game scene. Because games only need to read from a storage device when loading additional level assets into memory, upgrading a storage device will not impact your average FPS.

Kingston doesn't list any 4K random performance figures on the specification sheet for the drive, but the fastest we saw came from when the drive was tested with the Peak Performance profile of CrystalDiskMark 8. The fastest read figure, 201,561 IOPS, came from when the drive was using compressible data while the fastest write performance, 401,239 IOPS, came when the drive was being tested with incompressible data. The overall average bandwidth figure of 441.29MB/s for the complete test run sees the drive in last position in the results chart. From my experience, an SSD like the Kingston NV2 1 TB can significantly improve performance compared to a hard drive.

A closer inspection of the device reveals that our 2TB-capacity NV2 uses a Silicon Motion SM2267XT controller, which is a relatively recent, value-oriented model launched in 2020 and designed for DRAM-less operation (by comparison, the non-XT SN2267 is for use with LPDDR4). This controller offers four NAND channels and is capable of 500K 4K random IOPS read/write throughput according to Silicon Motion. All of the drive’s four 512MB NAND memory modules are mounted on the same side. AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, 16GB DDR4-2400, Sapphire R9 390 Nitro and an MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi motherboard
