We’d all love to hear from you! Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor Colors] Gansai is traditional Japanese watercolor, utilizing colors that are based off those seen in nature, meaning they are vivid and opaque. Pans are carefully filled with paint that is smooth, not granulated, and dries with a slight shiny finish. One of the biggest deterrents to watercolor is often poor quality, chalky, and low pigmented paints that are often sold as beginner sets. What is Brush Gold? I created BRONZE sculptures using the lost wax method, in college, many years ago. I knew immediately 91 is BRONZE. I even pulled out a small sculpture and showed my room-mate. She agreed. The Bronze Age, you know? Kuretake’s Transparent Watercolor Set is perfect for anyone ranging from a beginner watercolorist to an experienced painter! Overall, I would say Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolour is quite enjoyable to use. They are more opaque so you have to be more careful. Understanding your colours and mixtures well is more important with Kuretake, especially if you come from using American and European watercolours. The pans are laid out nicely in the box. Beneath each pan you can see the colour code and the name of the colour in Japanese. The same colour number code refer to different colours for Kuretake and Kissho.

What do I mean by “lift”? Simply put, when you put a wet brush onto the surface of the watercolor, how much pigment gets lifted off the surface, onto your brush? Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors lift great. That means there is plenty of pigment on your brush with little effort to get it there. No scrubbing your brush on the surface trying to get extra pigment and no adding layer upon layer of color, just to get any joy out of the vibrancy your project has. I have used these beautiful Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors in several videos. I hope they help you find anything you may want to try out. A:Since Gansai Tambi is a pigment-based paint, it is lightfast as long as not too much water is mixed in, but please be noted that the more water is mixed in, the weaker the lightfastness becomes. Here are random colour swatches. Can you identify the colours from Kissho based on what I said about the hard edges? There are six from Kissho.

Need I say more? Probably not. I’m sure I’ve made my point. Kuretake Gansi Tambi watercolors are a favorite! You can ask questions in the comments below if you have any. I have the set of 24 and love them. I didn’t even realize that they are popular, I don’t even remember why I bought them, probably saw them used in a video somewhere. They are so much better than any other watercolor brands I have tried (several). I am not great at watercoloring, though, so would love to see some video tutorials on how to use them. I cannot say enough exciting things about them. They took several weeks to arrive but are WELL worth the investment and patience to receive them. The Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors are artist grade and will last a very long time in their extra big pans. They are highly pigmented and a little goes a very long way. Discovery: The “Starry” palette seems to have a different binder, so you can (carefully) use them on top of other colors without too much smudging–much more so than the metallics that come with the sets.
