Two of the singles from the album, " Parabola" and " Schism", are featured in the video game Guitar Hero World Tour. I was so excited to finally have this album on vinyl. I was so excited that I convinced myself there's no way the surface noise and popping was going to bother me as much as it has bothered others. But here it is playing and I legitimately don't think I've ever been this disappointed in a record. This pressing is unlistenable imo. Even in many of the heavy sections you'd have to be deaf, musically ignorant, or some sort of combination of the two to convince yourself this is acceptable, especially given how dependent the flow of emotion of the album is on the use of open space and minimalism between the heavy sections. A poor, poor counterfeit pressing that offers nothing but a (probable) CD > Vinyl transfer. The actual release of Lateralus by Tool was mixed differently for the vinyl release. This just a sad & poor attempt at making a bootleg. I have so much respect for the bands Art and their stance on the industry in general they have done such a good job of being true to themselves and their art it’s incredible. So for comparison sake we're comparing the cd played on Naim CD3 versus vinyl on LP12 Cirkus with OL dc200 motor\Origin Live Silver\Linn Troika via MF LP2 mono phono amps\XPSU. Listening through Sennheiser HD600 via World Audio Design HD83 headphone amp. Though the CD3 is a very capable performer it's probably fair to say that it's rather out-gunned here.

I still am always surprised at how bands and record companies will spring for fancy cover art, reflective inks and picture discs but they won't put in a few cents extra to put the discs in poly-lined sleeves. The paper sleeves were practically vacuum-sealed to the records. Debris all over them, but thankfully no scuffs (that I could see). link removed – dead – Bootlegs aren’t too much of an issue for Lateralus, as there is plenty of supply of the legit ones.
