There are numerous actors that would better fit Reacher’s dimensions… but I’m not sure any would have Tom’s presence. I’m not Tom’s biggest fan, for sure. But more often than not, he does what he does quite well. Reply Here, too, the action ratchets up as the novel progresses, and we learn just how bad a guy Quinn was: when Reacher reaches the scene that will then lead him to make sure Quinn gets his he: "threw up on the floor and then for the first time in more than twenty years I cried" -- so, yeah: pretty bad. And Reacher came onto her radar when he started looking into the dead man he saw, who apparently has some connection to the drug dealers.He is a decorated military serviceman. Reacher buried his Silver Star with his Mother and has also received the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, to name a few. To say he has special “skills” is probably an understatement. In many of the novels, Reacher is in the wrong place at the wrong time but ends up using his skills to solve even the most perilous situations. In “Killing Floor”, for example, the first of the Reacher novels, Reacher is arrested for murder shortly after arriving in Margrave, Georgia. One Shot: The book starts with six shots and five people are left dead. A city is thrown into a state of terror and the police need to work fast to apprehend the killer. I am not keen on the idea of having two authors, regardless of who the second one is doing Reacher books. The character came from one mind and should continue to be that way. These collaborations on solid characters never work well. Reply Reacher and Duffy cover what they can in the planning, and they think they've done a pretty good job.

Reacher may grow from type--the tough-guy loner, wounded and trying unsuccessfully to disengage--but he brings his own sinewy presence to the role. I’m not sure why but I always imagine Reacher as a Jim Caviezel character. Maybe because the part he played on the show Person of Interest. I know he doesn’t have sandy colored hair but he’s who I see in my head when I read these books. Reply And without fear. Which is good, because trouble—big, violent, complicated trouble—finds Reacher wherever he goes. And when trouble finds him, Reacher does not quit, not once…not ever. Quinn remains out of sight -- and hence out of Reacher's reach -- for much of the novel -- but Reacher is kept busy, and on his toes, along the way to the inevitable confrontation.Yes, the technique is one Child uses elsewhere, too --- the precise amount of time; the preview of the outcome before the slow, deliberate unfolding of the scene -- but it certainly grabs you here. This novel is one of the things that you can look forward to when you are looking to find novels that have great stories and the great action that you need to stay involved This novel is one that will thrill the individual. It is one that makes a great summer time read.Readers will be stunned by the action with Die Trying when they decide to read this novel. He slipped out of the car and walked away into the gloom inside the house and the guy in the suit closed the oak door from the outside and took up station right in front of it. He wasn't looking at me but I knew I was somewhere in his peripheral vision. I broke the wire connection under the steering column and turned the motor off and waited. I too was very disappointed at seeing Tom cruise in the role of Reacher but I gotta say I binged the new series on prime. I think they nailed it. Reply
