The sheer accuracy of the model makes recreating this magnificent mission a great way to take off into the world of space travel from the comfort of your own home. The set comes with functional landing gear and a set of payload bay doors that, thanks to gravity, open and close with a joyously satisfying sound. This set. This one. This is the single greatest set LEGO has ever released! What can I say. It just has everything. Especially great personal memories, what might play a role in naming this the best set ever. the rubber insulation on the cables of my shuttle are peeling off, are there any good alternatives for replacing the cables with never on of the never lego electric solutions? I was thrilled to see the space shuttle in Lego form … Hubble is definitely the highlight of my career,” Sullivan said in the news release. The two biggest contributers to the discolouring of the plastic of Lego toys are long term exposure to sunlight and cigarette smoke. Try to minimise these when storing your Playmobil.

The set contains over 2,300 pieces and will take you the best part of six to seven hours (if not more) to finish, which already makes it a good return. If the LEGO Group had sold both models separately, they would have been fantastic sets in their own right, so to have both in one makes the deal seem otherworldly. (Okay, maybe not that good, but you get the point.) — Pictures — On the other hand, it's very sensitive and it moves around too easily. So, if you're trying to view the correct part on a particularly complicated bit, you can lose your way. The final part (H) being the worst offender for this, with it being incredibly difficult to differentiate between colors and what you're trying to achieve.Five shuttles flew into space during the program’s history: Atlantis, Challenger, Columbia, Discovery and Endeavour. Challenger and Columbia were destroyed in accidents. It's hard to believe there once was a time, where we didn't have gear shifters. These are now so common-place in the Technic universe, that many sets wouldn't be possible without them. The Space Shuttle is the 2nd set to feature this system, after the 8880-1 Technic Super Car (next Classic Review?). new LEGO® NASA Discovery Space Shuttle is so relaxing Why the new LEGO® NASA Discovery Space Shuttle is so relaxing

There's always Engino's Eiffel Tower too which is a little smaller than the Space Shuttle but still a complex architectural piece. The arm is build, and the controls of the motors are installed. I'm always a bit anxious if I gave the wire enough room to attach the satellite later on. It's tight, but it's long enough. In the review for the 10283-1 I have a side-by-side photo (at the end). They have nearly identical dimensions. NOTE: This review was written before the release of the 10283-1 NASA Discovery Space Shuttle. Contents: Introduction As a passionate technic fan I want to like newer stuff and their newer better designs but I can't help loving this set. It has more functions than some of the biggest new technic sets (42125 I'm looking at you) and it looks as food as you could get display wise at the time. Besides being the largest set I've ever built at the time, there were a couple of other things in this set that were a first for me. FOS

I’m so happy to read this review. I remember saving up for months and months to buy this set in 1996. I just dug it out and built it with my 5 year old son, having not been used since probably 1999. Never had the space shuttle, i wonder if i could build it without the micro motor (my brother has that one), FOS and correct colours.

We're nearing the end, with some last cosmetic things. The tail gets added. I'm not a fan of using the technic plates on the sides, but the additional strength makes it possible to display the model standing up, leaning on the tail.
