Description

If a part of humankind is eternal, and there is much evidence and history to think so, then why are we doing such bad things to ourselves? Why do we step on and over others for our personal gain’ when actually we’re flunking the lesson? We all seem to be going to the same place ultimately, albeit at different speeds. No one is greater than another. – Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss, M.D. Whoa, that was the longest review I've ever seen on good reads. You must have been pretty passionate, Jon, to have spent so much time on it. I have two questions for you though, are you a writer, an author, an editor? Have you personally met Brian? In the end we finally find out some of the good messages from the Masters which I thought very good but it was all too little too late to save this one for me. Estoy plenamente segura de que seguiré viviendo cuando deje este plano y seguiré aprendiendo. No le temo a lo que viene. Many Lives, Many Masters preaches the readers to rid themselves of their vices before their time is over. Burdening our soul with these vices would only create more baggage to carry to the next lifetime. However, to Weiss’s credit, these causes are unlikely to fully explain Catherine’s experiences, since the hallucinations caused by depression tend to be brief, and Catherine’s visions often lasted over an hour. Furthermore, hallucinations caused by anxiety are more likely to be auditory than visual, and Catherine’s past-life memories focused on visual information. Therefore, while Weiss didn’t consider Catherine’s anxiety and depression as possible explanations for her experience, they’re still unlikely to be the root causes. Me enloquecía esa idea. A graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School, Brian L. Weiss M.D. is Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami. As promised, I have read your review. You make some compelling arguments, which I very much appreciate. I do believe however it's like trying to argue faith with a follower: The very definition of faith is to believe in something you cannot see, touch, prove or unprove. One of the most thought provoking books I have read. It gives credence to the ideologies of Reincarnation and makes one feel more peaceful about our purpose on earth and our life after death.

This was a nonsensical statement for Dr Weiss to write, as if giving credence to the idea that there was documentary evidence to support any of the other past lives described by Catherine. In fact, Dr Weiss did not provide any documentary evidence at all in his book to support any of the pasts lives described by Catherine. As I wrote at the beginning of my review: Dr Weiss has conducted his research without scientific protocols or peer review, yet as a "scientist", Dr Weiss should have the skills and resources necessary to have conducted his "investigation" properly and scientifically. The fact that he chose not to has, I believe, discredited his book as a work of fairy tale-like fiction. Dr. Brian Weiss has bring forth some extraordinary philosophies about enduring-beyond-our-wildest-imagination consequences of not paying one’s debts. For example, while under hypnosis in 1952, a Colorado housewife named Virginia Tighe recalled a past life as an Irishwoman named Bridey Murphy. The story collapsed, however, when researchers discovered that Tighe had lived across the street from an Irish immigrant named Bridie Murphy Corkell as a young child. They concluded that she must have stored this name as a buried memory, which was later unearthed and spun into an entire “past life” story under the suggestive power of hypnosis. Similarly, without knowing more about Catherine’s life, it’s impossible to rule out such an explanation for her past life memories. The Use of HypnosisRealize that life is more than meets the eye. Life goes beyond our five senses. Be receptive to new knowledge and to new experiences.”
