Volume 9 was published in late 2015 and features Iggy on the cover. It adapts the first part of MAX. Ari's greatest desire was to have his father be proud of him, and he was extremely and horribly jealous of how his father doted on Max. This expressed itself violently; he talked about choking Jeb to get more attention. He was ecstatic when Jeb expressed pride in School's Out - Forever, when Ari laid out his plan to steal Max. Maximum Ride: The Manga is the manga adaptation of James Patterson's Maximum Ride series. The manga series has been licensed to Yen Press, with NaRae Lee as the illustrator. It currently runs nine volumes, with the most recent one published in 2015 and adapting the books to about halfway through MAX.

Jeb cloned Ari perfectly, retaining all of his memories. The new Ari was accompanied by a crew of other clones known as the Not-Aris, who were sent with a mission to kill Fang. This clone killed Maya, but was later killed in turn by Dylan.

Flying is difficult and the story gives the children the power to fly. It opens up the realms of unknown space that we see when we fly. A short film now exists on Max Ride and there is a game also to play named Max Ride. Jeez. Ari loved me? Like a little kid? Like a big Eraser? Was that why he kept trying to kill me? He needed to read an article about how to send clearer signals.

Volume 6 was released in December 2012 and features Angel on the cover. It almost finished Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports but cuts off around the time Fang's blog readers are destroying Itex. During a fight with a squid, Fang and Max both discover that they have developed gills. By the end of the book, Fang and Max frequently kiss and show affection. Angel seems to approve, giving Max a thumbs-up. All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. Ari wanted Max to be his friend, although he expressed it violently by trying to wound Fang to the point of hospitalization because he didn't approve of Max and Fang's romance.
