Have you ever heard of 4D mini-golf? Well, you can actually experience it at Xscape Yorkshire! The UK’s first glow-in-the-dark adventure golf, with 3D theming and special effects for every hole! It’ll be an out of this world experience, as you either lift a terrible Mummy’s Curse, through ancient tombs and Egyptian hallways or discover the lost city of Atlantis and encounter ‘The Kraken’. It has a magnificent avenue of trees along the river walkway and trees all around its edges - apparently some 350 different species. The Hidden Cove, which is slightly easier of the two, or if you’re up for the challenge take on the Lost Hut Trail, taking you through abandoned temples and old island villages, with plenty trying to put you off! Ever wanted to golf in space? Mr Mulligan’s makes that happen! With 3 indoor 12 hole adventure golf courses, there are lots of obstacles coming your way. Can you use your creativity to putt a hole in one? Sci-fi themed to make your game feel out of this world!
Expect high-pitched company at this 18-hole Croydon course – it’s so child-friendly that club hire takes place at a gift shop full of plastic swords, axes and daggers-slash-bubble wands. Pathways are stamped with luminous green dragon footprints, one hole’s set in a massive castle turret, there’s a dragon’s tail jutting from the top of a replica waterfall and there’s a giant trebuchet in the midst of the course (obvs). Be warned: one hole involves you sinking a ball while a speaker pipes a deafening squeal of serpent rage into your ear. Even St George would struggle with that one. The Thames is a tidal river and, as you can see from the photograph, the tide was out on the day of my visit which gives it a very different and almost surreal dynamic compared to when it is at full tide - indeed in February it floods along in Putney! If Michael Crichton had written about DNA cloning’s miraculous potential to create putting hazards, this is what 'Jurassic Park' would’ve been like. Right down to the theme tune they blare from the speakers every 20 minutes or so. The holes mightn’t be the most challenging, but the course’s fringing is awesome: velociraptors loom from lakes of blood and giant diplodocus stand stark against the skyline as animatronic dinos bark at golfers. AT PUTTSTARS LEEDS WE'RE ALL ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE, WHETHER IT'S THE TEAMWORK IT TAKES TO GET OVER THE BRIDGE OR THE CHEERING FOR A HOLE IN ONE; BECAUSE NO MATTER WHO PLAYS, WE PLAY TOGETHER. Left after a game of darts even though we had more activities booked, the volume of the music is utterly ridiculous, the manager is a wannabe nightclub owner. Lunchtime games for families with music blasting out like it’s the hippodrome on a Saturday night though the music in there isn’t as loud as this place! Says a lot when the O2 is really busy but that place is almost empty as no one wants to go in there to have their eardrums blown apart! With two 10-hole courses, you’ll shoot through toilets and through dodgems. Take time out before or after your game and unwind completely with entertainment and drinks. Featuring two 18-hole courses, at Treetop Adventure Golf you play your way through 20ft towering trees, along the colour changing mystic river and through the indoor thunderstorm experience, all whilst trying to get the best score. This might be mini-golf, but it’s one big rainforest adventure!
