I’ve seen people use barbells with them, though not with the HLR’s – more for the sliding hamstring curls while lying on the floor. Again, if you were to try this, start light, and maybe have someone nearby just in case. I don’t see why they couldn’t be used for reverse hypers, long as you have a safe platform for them.

Yes, I was very skeptical about this goofy looking product too… until I saw the ways you can spice up some amazing bodyweight exercises that I personally don’t find myself doing very often. With Monkey Feet, my leg workouts have changed in a great way. The dumbbell handle must be at least 127mm in length for the MF to clamp onto it – unless you’re using the tiniest dumbbells in the world, I don’t think you’ll ever have any issues with this. These are great to train hamstrings and quads in isolation. It is easy to put in a dumbbell and switch it out. The ratchet system is top notch.While it hasn’t affected the functionality of either the AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet or our dumbbells, this is something to keep in mind if you’re concerned about your equipment’s aesthetics. Short of doing VMO squats, there’s not really many ways to isolate that VMO at home and so doing an exercise like this is probably the easiest way.

The MonkeyFeet leg extension takes a bit of finesse to get just right but once you’ve got it all sorted, it’s one of the best exercises you can do with this tool.
