Remove the SD card and press the reset button on the underside of the Dash Cam. Then turn the Dash Cam on. Please turn Parking Mode off and turn Screen Saver off as these could interfere with the test results. Next in the series 2 range is the 422GW. This dashcam doesn’t have a huge number of upgrades compared to the 322GW, however the one that does stand out is the camera quality. The 222 is slightly larger than the 122 which allows it to have a larger screen and a wider camera angle at 140° instead of 120°.

I couldn't agree more, we would 100% rather a customer ask than experience problems further down the line. The addition of Bluetooth means the 322GW also has emergency response features. In case of an emergency, the camera can alert the emergency services and provide them with your location and other relevant details. There are safeguards in place to prevent accidental calls.

a) Before you start, you'll need to mount the SD or micro SD card on your Mac. If you have a Mac with an SD card slot, use that. If not, you’ll need an SD card adapter. Image quality is excellent, even in low light conditions. The 412GW records in up to 1440P at 30 frames per second, but it’s perhaps at its best in 1080P at 60 frames per second, which provides extremely clear, crisp, fluid video. In our early testing, there was a bug which meant the SOS became disabled in the app and we had to enable it each time we got into the car. This has now been fixed, but it is by no means the only bug in the app. Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the dash cam and NOT via the mount.

We have two types of mounts available; a suction cup or an adhesive mount. The adhesive mount is considerably more durable and less prone to breakage. Take your Dash Cam inside and plug it into mains power or a computer using the Nextbase provided USB cable. The 4-metre cable is long enough to be trailed neatly through door seals and around the windscreen for a very tidy installation. The alternative is a hard-wired wiring set up; hooking the power mount into the ignition circuit and keeping the wires out of sight. It’s priced slightly higher than the Nextbase 312GW. That buys better image quality and a touch-sensitive interface, but other than that the two cameras are quite similar. So is the 412GW worth the extra? Unlike the 222, the 322GW is compatible with the add-on modules, including the rear camera, rear window camera and the cabin view camera.

The Nextbase 412GW is a dashcam that offers a range of features. Designed for use in vehicles, it provides a reliable and durable recording solution for capturing road incidents and accidents. With its sleek design and compact size, it can be easily installed and positioned on your car's windshield, offering a discreet and unobtrusive look. On the other hand, if you’re keen to record extremely high-quality, clear footage - for example, if you live in a busy town and are prone to encountering hazardous situations - then the extra cash isn't too much of a push. It’ll get you clearer, more fluid footage, which for a lot of dash cam buyers matters more than value - and it's still much cheaper than many inferior cameras. For the camera nerds, the 422GW has a better lens which has an f/1.3 aperture as opposed to f/1.6. Essentially, this means that more light enters the camera. That extra adjustment does have a big impact on the quality, especially under darker lighting. The 122 is right at the lower end of the market and is a small, compact device that comes at a budget price. It has all of the essential features you need from a dashcam, including loop recording which writes over the footage you don’t need so you never need to delete the footage. If you need to keep footage, you can manually save it or the built in G-sensor can detect crashes and protect footage for you. The 412GW uses six-element sharp lenses, made up of 6 layers of glass, providing a 140° viewing angle able to capture the entire road ahead. In the event of an incident, the clear and crisp footage is perfect for providing instant evidence to support an insurance claim and proving you weren’t at fault. If the dash cam does not appear as a drive on your PC, please press the reset button on the underside of your dash cam and try all the USB ports on your computer. Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the Dash Cam and NOT via the mount. One of our favourite things about the series 2 dashcam range is that it’s really easy to understand. For every model you go up, from 122 through to 622, you’ll get more features or better specs. On the dash cam's screen you'll see a menu of 3 options. Please select 'Mass Storage' on the Dash Cam screen and then OK so that only that displays on the screen. The 422GW has a camera resolution of 1440p, more commonly known as 2k. Whilst the camera does also offer 60fps, you will need to keep the resolution at 1080p to utilise this.

There is a new GPS system which runs at 10Hz, so it means your position is recorded 10 times per second. It leads to a much more accurate measure of where you were on the road at any given time, so it could come in handy if you have to prove your innocence should an insurance claim be made against you, for example. The 422GW is noticeably smaller than the 412GW it replaces, being considerably narrower, but there’s still a good-sized screen. There are only two buttons: power and an emergency button (centred below the screen) which you can push to protect the video being recorded from being overwritten when the microSD card is full up. Please be aware that formatting the SD card will delete all the data on the card, so if you wish to keep any footage, please copy this across before you start the formatting process. 3. On an Apple Mac Computer Everything else is done via the 2.5in touchscreen. The new interface is simplified, with far fewer confusing icons on screen and presenting four main options when you tap on the settings cog. By default, the 422GW records at 1440p, the highest resolution, at 30fps. You can change to 1080p60, but it won’t auto switch to 30fps at night for a brighter image, so isn’t recommended.Below are links to step by step instructions about how to update the firmware on your Nextbase Dash Cam.
