About this deal

This spread utilizes what I call "The Hermit" spread structure, I find this structure useful when reading at length into an individual's future for a series or timeline of events. In this particular spread the first card laid represents a pivotal event or situation that could lead the querent to marriage. The last card laid (or lantern) is a significator of time or timeline. This card can represent a time by months, seasons or event in the [...] a b Court de Gébelin incorrectly labeled both Death and Temperance as XIII. [107] The latter is probably a printing error.

At one stage in the initiation procedure, Christian tells us...the postulant climbs down an iron ladder, with seventy-eight rungs, and enters a hall on either side of which are twelve statues, and, between each pair of statues, a painting. These twenty-two paintings, he is told, are Arcana or symbolic hieroglyphs; the Science of Will, the principle of all wisdom and source of all power, is contained in them. Each corresponds to a "letter of the sacred language" and to a number, and each expresses a reality of the divine world, a reality of the intellectual world and a reality of the physical world. The secret meanings of these twenty-two Arcana are then expounded to him. [29] Court de Gébelin, Antoine (1781). Le monde primitif. Vol.VIII. Paris: Chez Court de Gébelin, Valleyre, & Sorin. These twin myths of ancient wisdom and modern fraud still play a large role in how people respond to the cards. But they are not the only stories we can tell about the history of tarot. Personally, I love his advice to provide the Demon an offering before beginning such a ritual, so to entice the Demon to provide the answers to your questions. Remember that an offering should always be something that is both valuable to both yourself and desirable to the Demon. Generally, offerings should include food, flowers, incense, alcohol, blood, or candles. One should always take the time to research what a specific Demon prefers, and begin the offering at this point. Once you build a better relationship with that Demon, the Demon will share with you alternatives and additional preferences.
