I am wondering if you noticed any loss of image quality on the Panasonic due to it being used on an Olympus body. I have a Panasonic 100-400 and plan to use it on an Olympus OM-D E-M1 ii body. Seeing that the 2 image stabilization systems do not work together, which should I have on? The lens or the camera or should I have both on? The first difference is the fastest aperture: the M.Zuiko goes from f/5 at 100mm to f/6.3 at 400mm. The Panasonic starts from f/4 and shares the same aperture at 400mm. When used with an optional teleconverter, the focal range is increased up to 1,120mm with the M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14 and up to 1600mm with the 2x Teleconverter MC-20.

The rotational direction of the zoom ring is the same as in Nikon lenses. The electromagnetic diaphragm control makes aperture adjustment impossible with some older Nikon DSLRs, however. Rather than try to improve on the optical performance of the EF mount lens which the company felt was pretty spot on, Canon has instead opted to expand the focal length for this R-series lens by a further 100mm. Granted, it's got a maximum aperture of f/5, as opposed to the Panasonic which tops out at f/4, but it's got impressive weatherproofing, and its compatibility with Olympus's 2x Teleconverter MC-20 and 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14 means you can extend that colossal reach even further!Broad-bodied Chaser, Olympus E-M1 III, M.Zuiko 100-400mm/5.0-6.3 IS, 400mm, ISO 400, f/6.3, 1/400s, handheld In good light, the lens is capable of delivering fine images even at its closest focus distance. Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III, 100-400mm at 400mm, 1/2000sec at f/6.3, ISO 1000 Focus range limiter allows you to constrict the focus system to 4.3-19.7', 4.3' to infinity, or 19.7' to infinity ranges for faster focusing performance depending on the subject type and distance. Just to show you what I mean by lower sharpness with the MC-14, this is a photo of a Goldeneye Drake with the teleconverter attached. It does show a loss of fine detail around the beak and eye which made me think there was minimal gain to be had from using it. I'm tempted to hire/buy/obtain an MC-20 though to see if this combination would be better than cropping alone however. I found the ability to use the zoom was great, the ring had just the right amount of tension to ensure no mistakes. It did the job!

Secretarybird, Olympus E-M1 III, M.Zuiko 100-400mm/5.0-6.3 IS, 314mm, ISO 250, f/7.1, 1/320s, handheldHandling is refined and the oversized AF/MF and dual-mode static/panning stabilization switch are easy to operate even with gloves on. The flipside is that you can find yourself nudging the switches out of position accidentally. Autofocus range limiting is available for both the short and long sectors of focus distance.
