About this deal

the built-in fx are delay, reverb, bit-crush and distortion. future firmware upgrades will expand the OP–Z with even more fx. with the OP–Z app you see the numbers and graphs behind the music you create in real time. at a glance, you know how your instruments are balanced in the Some additional expression can be added with the rubber pad on the front edge of the unit: it's a bi-directional, pressure–sensitive input that acts as a pitch–bend controller. It can also adjust the velocity of steps in the sequencer. Control changes can be recorded in real time, or sequenced per-step using the 'Swedish method' of holding a step while dialling in a parameter setting. this equipment complies with ic rss-102 radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. this transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. hold [tempo] to adjust bpm, swing, and the sound and level of the metronome. see chart 01 for reference.

the project button lets you choose one of the 10 projects where you work on your songs. each project cet équipement est conforme aux limites d'exposition aux radiations ic cnr-102 établies pour un environnement non contrôlé. cet émetteur ne doit pas être situé ou fonctionner conjointement avec une autre antenne ou un autre émetteur. use the piano keys on the musical keyboard to find a sound you like. the latest played sound can be placed in the sequencer by pressing the [step buttons]. use the second overlay as an example of where to place the notes. photomatic lets you add up to 10 sequences with 24 pictures each, all possible to edit with the colored dials. Fortunately, TE have created a free control app (currently iOS-only, but forthcoming for Android too). This runs via Bluetooth, and gives full visualisation of the sequencer, sound engines and effects (using some great eye-catching graphics), and also acts as a screen for the visual sequencers. It’s really nicely designed, and helps to clarify and open up the OP-Z’s capabilities – to the extent that I’d be wary of recommending the OP-Z to anyone without the ability to run the companion app.

is empty and a good option when starting to build your own patterns. each project contains 16 patterns and the first pattern is selected by default. connect OP–Z wirelessly to a mobile device. thanks to the extremely energy efficient ble technology your OP–Z will run and sync to your screen for hours and hours, without you having to charge the unit.

At first I was in love with what the OPZ could do and couldn't see myself returning it, but two years down the line I'm sorry I didn't. The bad quality really pushes me away from using it and it just sits in a drawer. Waste of money ultimately. At TE, the sound engineering and software team is probably doing a good job but hardware is abysmal. The price is not justifiable. I've been using Korg grooveboxes from the electribe series for years and this does everything those machines did, better and in a way that's much more user friendly. I can't possibly sing the praises of this synth within the word limit of this review but I'll try. To be completely honest though, until very recently - ie the day our review unit arrived - we would have struggled to answer had somebody asked me to explain what the OP-Z actually is. It doesn’t help that the hardware itself gives very few clues as to its function. Its sleek, minimal form is adorned with buttons and rotaries labelled with often rather cryptic icons. Were you to hand someone an OP-Z without context, it’s likely they wouldn’t know whether they’re supposed to use it to make music, turn on the TV or try to make a phone call. Which all begs the question, what actually is the OP-Z? A synth? A sampler? An audio-visual sequencer? The answer is, to some extent at least, all of the above. Out of the box, the OP‑Z's physical connectivity is limited to a USB–C port and a 3.5mm audio output. The yellow knob on the left-hand side doubles as a power switch and volume control. The OP‑Z stores 10 projects with 16 patterns in each, and most of the memory slots come pre-populated with demo songs. These proved a helpful resource while getting comfortable with the navigation system, which uses a master button on the top edge of the device combined with the step and note buttons to recall projects and patterns. use this to get started creating your first pattern, and as a reference guide for buttons, parameters and step components. The sequencer is just perfect. This device can serve as the "brain" for you set, as it is really easy to sequence other instrument with it.

l’appareil doit accepter tout brouillage radioélectrique subi, même si le brouillage est susceptible d’en compromettre le fonctionnement. OP–Z is tailor made for controlling rich 3D animations in real-time sync with your tunes and beats. There are currently eight synth engines, plus the PCM sample player. The synths have a similar vibe to the OP-1, with some unusual, bright digital flavours and physical modelling algorithms and a couple of traditional synths. Each synth only has two unique parameters to adjust. Some synths have a wider tonal range than others, but all are generally useful as basses, leads or pads, depending on the pitch and envelope you use. It's small and that's not a problem. It's easy to play once you get used to it and if you're a commuter this is hands down one of the best ways to pass time on a train. press and hold [tempo]. turn the [green] dial to adjust the bpm to your liking, between 40–200 bpm.I bought this device a year ago and I still love it very much. First, the design is much better than it looks on a photo. It is light, feels great to handle and the button are enjoyable.
