About this deal

Video game adaptations of the film were released the same year as the film. They were developed by Probe Software Ltd. and published by Fox Interactive. [20] The PC and non-PC versions of the game are almost entirely different games; the PC game is an interactive game and is developed by Mammoth Micro Productions, published by Turner Interactive and distributed by Turner Home Entertainment, and the non-PC versions are platformers. A young boy who is afraid of everything gets trapped in the local library, where he befriends three strange characters, Adventure, Fantasy, and Horror, and must overcome his fears while journeying through Storyland towards the Exit Sign. Movie tie-in. Ed Begley Jr. and Mel Harris as Alan and Claire Tyler, Richard's supportive parents. Alan considers himself a bad father due to his continuous failed attempts to help Richard get over his fears. Also "Dream Away" by Babyface& Lisa Stansfield which plays over the end credits. Unlike Whatever You Imagine, it wasn't co-written by James Horner.

As someone that works in the library I would love to see some books come to life, that's every readers dream I suppose. I never saw this as a kid, so with seeing it for the first time as adult I noticed that is very much geared toward younger kids with its short run time and simple story. But I did like its approach toward showcasing classic characters from literature. Cometí el error de ver la película antes de leer el libro. Y es que el libro y la película son idénticos, la película tiene frases literales del libro y por tanto, me aburrí mucho leyéndolo porque sabía todo lo que iba a pasar. Eyepatch of Power: Adventure looks like a pirate, complete with eyepatch. There's nothing wrong with the eye under it - so when he needs to get a better look at something he just lifts it up.

Christopher Lloyd as Mr. Dewey, the unconventional librarian and caretaker of a seemingly abandoned library. Old, Dark House: Dr. Jekyll lives in a big, dark mansion on the edge of a cliff. While Richard comes across a few ghost stories, the much bigger threat is Jekyll himself once he transforms into Mr. Hyde.

Because it's summer, I had time, and I've always wanted to read all of the books referenced in this 1994 animation classic.Public Domain Character: Tons of them. In fact, none of the worlds that Richard and the books travel through feature any literary characters that debuted in the last seventy-two years (at the time of the film's release date), which means you will definitely see Dr. Jekyll, Captain Ahab, and Long John Silver in this movie, but not Aslan, Bilbo Baggins, or James Bond. Creepy Cemetery: The "Horror" section of the library is a giant graveyard with books shaped like tombstones. Personal critique: Pretty good overall, but not quite at the level of some of the other books reviewed here recently.

Or Was It a Dream?: Richard wakes up from his adventure in Fictionland. However, at the end the shadows and voices of Adventure, Horror, and Fantasy can be seen and heard in the real world. One of the books we see near the phone booth pile is The Snow Queen, later known for a more famous adaptation. Cave Mouth: Our heroes find a cave, which is full of stalagmites and stalactites. When Adventure accidentally breaks one, it's revealed that the "cave" is actually the mouth of a dragon.

Advertising by Association: Some of the trailers for the film said "From the creator of An American Tail" at the beginning. This was possibly done to mislead people into thinking it was a Don Bluth film, which it wasn't; David Kirschner produced both films. The main character is someone you can really root for. He's a nerd and a coward, but he has a lot of potential too be something more. You'll be rooting for him the whole way. Strengths and weaknesses: This book had several strong points: something of a survey of multiple genres, very nicely illustrated, and a book that manages to promote reading to young readers, however, the book was admittedly somewhat derivative. Leonard Nimoy as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: The fictional scientist who turned into the horrific monster.Rereading it as an adult, i remembered all the bits that freaked me out (name one kid who doesn't have nightmares about Frankenstein's monster) as well as the books that i wanted to read because they were mentioned in here.
