Other inputs/outputs include two USBs, Ethernet, a Common Interface Plus, terrestrial and satellite antenna, RCA, PC Input/Audio, Headphone out and Digital Optical out. There’s no HCX processor seen in Panasonic’s more advanced TVs. Instead, the HX600 has the brand’s 4K HDR Studio Colour image that shoots for a more realistic look to its pictures. Support for HDR extends to HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision HDR, the latter helping to refine the HX600’s HDR performance with supported content given the set’s limited brightness. For sound there’s Dolby Atmos, and like every other TV at this price, it isn’t the overhead and immersive version; instead, it aims to produce better processing with supported content. Sound is outputted through the set’s 2 x 10W speakers. The picture is a bit subdued, though, with Siena looking more overcast than sweatily hot, and the lights in the tunnels beneath Piazza del Campo looking less bright than they should.Colours are bright, but not particularly lush or vibrant, and details aren’t emphasised as they are on other sets. It’s just a less engaging and enticing image compared to the best in class. The picture is powered by Panasonic’s 4K Colour Engine, with support for HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision– the latter included for more “vivid colours” as well as better contrast and brightness levels with compatible 4K discs and streaming services. With Dolby Vision, colour and brightness levels are changed dynamically for a more accurate and refined picture. It’s a good job, then, that the Panasonic TX-50EX750B has more to offer than a bizarrely low-tech height-adjustment function. But can it compete with the best televisions in its class?
