These are some of the best pads from Pioneer DJ, as far as feeling goes. The performance pads have a revamped functionality. You can access things like Beat Jump and Hot Cue. The XDJ-RX2 has a more premium jogwheel set that includes lights in its centre ring plus a more solid weighted feel. They’re also larger than the ones found on the XDJ-RR. The XDJ-RR’s jogs feel like a step-down, like something you’d expect in Pioneer DJ’s range of budget DDJ controllers, but nonetheless are very responsive. Note that both are still touch-capacitive, so you still don’t get the mechanical jogwheels found on a CDJ or XDJ media player. Performance Pads tried the pioneer ergo years ago and found that the xdj-rx2 is just an upgraded model of that with a few more buttons. If you have rekordbox connection, operation and audio issues, please see here to solve the problems. Unfortunately even though visually they look mechanical, the jog wheels are capacitive units taken from the SX controller range. With no adjustment on their resistance, the jog wheels break the illusion of the “club feel” which is a shame. That said, they are responsive, smooth and do their job well. This reduces the master output when you have a microphone in use. Twin USB ports also give you the option to load music or record your mixes. The Shift button, which formerly sits in the pad function row, moves to a spot above the transport controls. Mixer Functionality The switchable effects come with four components, including Dub Echo, Filter, Sweep, and Noise. On the other hand, the Beat FX are time-based intermediate effects.

XDJ-RX2 - Pioneer DJ - Global

Above the faders, you’ll discover cue buttons for sending audio through to your headphones. The Pioneer XDJ RX2 is popular because it offers so many advanced features. Made with a completely plastic chassis, the XDJ-RX2 unit shares the same design and materials as the flagship Nexus 2 players. It’s a heavy device. Weighing in at 9kg and being 73cm wide it’s certainly less portable than a controller. That said, the weight and size of the unit help make it feel closer to the CDJ players, which is a massive benefit for those wanting to look more professional.Since the launch of the RX2, new products have come to market which directly competes against it. Pioneer DJ has recently released the much larger XDJ-XZ, while rivals Denon DJ have released three new all in one units. These include the similarly priced Prime 4, the unique battery-powered Prime GO and cheaper rival, Prime 2. Designed for advanced DJ’s wanting that professional feeling at home, and beginners wanting their first taste on high-end gear alike, the RX2 aims to be the ultimate all in one for use at home and on the road. The Build In this Head To Head feature we’re pitting the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2 against the XDJ-RR. Both are two-channel standalone devices for Rekordbox, meaning you can spin using just a USB thumb drive that has all your music exported from Rekordbox, and you can also connect them to your laptop for spinning with Rekordbox DJ. Many experts agree that this is the all-in-one best controller for pioneer fans, with everything from touch-screen support, to a professional-level layout.

Mac OS standard driver will be automatically installed when your CDJ/XDJ is connected to your Mac with a USB cable. The biggest downside with these jog wheels is that it may take some time for you to get used to how “loose” the devices are. Nothing before this was ever so widely adopted. The RX2 still holds its own against the increased competition for DJ’s looking for the feeling of flagship club gear. It’s not a cheap unit, but considering the price of a similar specced XDJ-700 and DJM-450 stand-alone setup, the XDJ-RX2 is a clear winner, being more affordable and powerful. Video Review The Pioneer DJ XDJ RX2 is the most powerful all-in-one system available today. Though it’s not as enthralling as the original Pioneer XDJ-RX, it’s definitely worth a closer look for many DJs. At the same time, producers and DJs could also be prepared for the club standard layout with a solution both highly capable and affordable. Pioneer DJ XDJ RX2: Is it Worth it?
