Face Unblur can remove the blur from a face in motion if the camera can recognize the face and it isn't too blurred . Again, it can't work miracles. Google’s new flagship boasts a 50MP primary camera sensor, complete with OIS, EIS, LDAF, and an ƒ/1.85 aperture. There’s also a secondary 12MP ultrawide sensor with a 114-degree field of view. However, the standard Pixel 6 misses out on the Pixel 6 Pro’s 48MP telephoto lens. On the bottom edge, you’ve got the microphone, USB-C port, and one of two stereo speakers. Those speakers are loud and full; they’re not going to replace a Bluetooth speaker, even in a small room, but they’re absolutely good enough for watching videos or playing games without headphones. The left edge houses the SIM card tray, and there’s another mic for noise-canceling up top. The top bezel houses a cutout that pulls double duty as both earpiece and the other half of the stereo speaker setup. Its grille is divvied up into 10 segments, and sound only comes out of the leftmost six — you can actually see that it’s filled in on the right side. It looks a little weird up close, but it doesn’t impact audio quality. The selfie camera is on par with the 11.1MP lens on the more expensive Pro model (Photo: Steven Winkelman)

Google Pixel 6 colors: every new shade, including those for

It would be an understatement to say Steven Winkelman is obsessed with mobile technology. Since joining PCMag as a mobile analyst in 2019, he’s reviewed over 100 phones and tablets. Before that he covered mobile and wearable tech as a staff writer at Digital Trends. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. Google says that on the Pixel 6 it took inspiration from watch making and jewellery and you'll see that as you look over the colours and design. Google didn't disclose the Pixel 6’s modem at its launch event, nor when we asked for additional details about it. After some research with Sascha Segan, PCMag's lead mobile analyst, we're confident the phone uses Samsung's Exynos 5123 modem.Again, Google has used some of these tones before - the Not Pink Pixel 3 springs to mind, as does the Oh So Orange Pixel 4. Here the top section is what you might immediately associate with coral, the bottom section a lighter hue. Really, the biggest reason I can think of not to buy a Pixel 6 right now is that the Pixel 6a could be announced as early as Google I/O, and we're expecting it to be very similar to the full-fat version — only smaller and with an older camera sensor. Assuming it's priced similarly to previous Pixel a phones, it sounds like an incredible deal. Until it's official, that's all conjecture — but it might be worth it to wait it out with your current phone for a little while longer anyway, if you're able. While the Super Res Zoom photo is technically a higher resolution than a post-shot crop would get you, it doesn’t contain much additional information. Text on the card here is about as legible zoomed in on the 1x shot as it is at the camera app’s 7x software zoom. Benchmarks were impressive but, again, not the best indicator of day-to-day performance. On Geekbench 5, a suite of tests that quantifies raw performance, the Pixel 6 easily beat similarly priced competitors. It scored 1,021 single-core (SC) and 2,813 multi-core (MC). For comparison, the Pixel 5a scored 680 SC and 1,952 MC, while the Galaxy A52 managed 645 SC and 1,945 MC on the same test. Android 12 and Future Support The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are the first phones to ship with the Google Tensor SoC. Designed by Google specifically for the Pixel lineup, its processors, coprocessors, instruction sets, and other software are all in harmony to create a heterogeneous computing experience.

In the outdoor set, you can see straight away that the wide shot has darker shadows than the one from the main camera. Things are even hairier in the indoor set: that wide shot has the most noise of any photo I took during my testing, and the subject’s hand is blurrier than I would’ve expected. What's most impressive about the Pixel 6's modem, however, is its connectivity. We tested it in dozens of urban and rural locations across two states never encountered a poor signal. It consistently reached higher speeds than the iPhone 13 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra we tested in the same locations. There's some minor loss of fine detail with the ultrawide lens, but no noticeable distortion (Photo: Steven Winkelman) Yes. I think the Pixel 6 is the best phone Google's ever built. It punches above its weight in nearly every way: performance is great, build quality is very good, and the cameras positively rip.Still, Google’s AI photo magic applied to images from that jumbo camera sensor with artificially large pixels does make for excellent photos across just about every lighting condition. Excessively noisy low-light photos from the primary camera are a rarity, and in good light, a deft photographer could easily get frame-worthy photos out of this thing. New to the Pixel 6 is Wait Times, which shows how long a wait you should be in for at any given time calling a toll-free business number — kind of like Google Maps’ popular times chart, but for phone calls. While the Pixel 6's cameras may have their faults, you will have trouble finding a better setup on any similarly priced Android phone in the US. Ultimately, the phone is capable of excellent shots with some minor tweaks and adjustments. Midrange Android Excellence It worked relatively well on the shot of the river above — the moving water has indeed been blurred. The leaves that overlap the water from the camera’s perspective were even preserved pretty well. But the second photo had people walking through the frame, and it sort of made them look like ghosts. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; real long exposures would behave the same way. But it’s something to look out for.
